In a very quite room Pleo's speker will make a pop or click just before it plays a sound.
As long as it continues to play the same sound its fine, but when it transitions to a different sound you hear another click or pop.

this hasn't happened until today, pleos skin is sorta rubbing together and making a popping sound!!! like his skin is too lose or somthing, It could be since I have been very busy, pleo has been asleep for like 2 days!!!:( maybe his skin just needs to stretch into position again...

well, give pleos skin a pull and then let go, my pleo's skin on his legs were making that sound as he was walking!!! It's gradually stopping though:)

When Pleo was made they put lubricant, under the skin, between Pleo's legs and the torso to prevent rubbing. Check for a wrinkle in the skin on the inside of his legs and straighten the skin out.

... ok this weird purr is getting very annoying, he does it for the last 5 miutes of his battery life, and only reacts if I hold him by his tail!!! and he will just start purring and moving his head if I touch him, and he trys to fall asleep!! if I lay him on his side when he's doing this, he doesn't care!!! and he first trys to fall asleep with his head straight out, and freezes unless you touch him again!!! then he does this extreamily heavy breathing thing!!!!! Well.. he just fell asleep for real... wait no he didn't.. wow it takes a LOOOOOOOOONG time for Rocky to fall asleep:D every time I touch him, he wakes up again.. maybe I should stop poking him when he's trying to sleep huh:)

pleoguy101, you sound like you having such a time! I received my WiiGoBe last night, and turned him on this a.m. He is so delightful. He was awake, making sounds and moving a bit for just a few, then he would fall asleep. An hour later, I put him on my desk. He stayed awake a bit longer, and now he is asleep again, snoring because I was working and not paying attention to him. When I donʻt pay attention, he does fall asleep and stays asleep. I can even move WiiGoBe back to the TV where I keep him, and he doesnʻt wake up.
It may be because they start out as infants, then evolve? Maybe you are expecting too much too soon? They do say to allow 45 minutes for Pleo to get to know and grow. JMT.

ya, thats what I think too:)
Hey pleoguy101, I wouldnt worry about it too much.
Mine seems to act way different each time I turn him on. Last night, for example, he kept freezing with his neck either stuck out strait or looking off to the side. I had not seen this before, and was affraid it might be a short in the battery or something. But when I make a loud sound he "wakes up"!! This sounds like what you discribed ? He would not freeze while being pet, so I dont think there is anything wrong with him. But, who knows what he'll do today??

Hi All,
I think I might have a problem with my Pleo Bambam, who is just about 2 weeks old. When he walks or
goes into his sleeping position, his right rear leg (that is when you look straight in his face) makes an awful sound. Don't know how to best describe it as I'm not a native speaker. It sounds much like walking on an old wooden floor or if a gear is not properly lubed. This was only happening recently, it was not there when I first got him.
I've read other threads here in the forum and tried to "adjust" the rubbery skin round the leg but that wouldn't help at all. He is walking properly though but this noise just worries me.
I also sent an email to support @ Ugobe describing the problem as best as I could but only received some sort of default answer with contact details of the UK distributor (not sure if this has something to do with my work email address which is .co.uk). This wasn't helpful at all, so now I'm asking you...the more experienced Pleo forum members.
Can someone shed some light onto this / share similar experiences ?
Thanks a bunch in advance

Is it his skin that is making the sound, or the gears?

I reckon it's the gears because the sound comes more from the inside and only whenever he's moving
his leg. I tried the skin thing because I thought I give that a go to make sure this is not the reason. Maybe I did it wrong ?

maybe a gear is out of line or somthing.. I hope not, but I doubt it because pleo is very well made:) I'm not sure what it could be?

It could well be it's something else but this horrible sound is worrying me. Sounds like they have implanted
Mr Burns' hips into my little Bambam: confused:

Waffles makes an awful buzzing sound out of his left front leg. But he's still working well. As long as Bambam is still working fine and can walk, I wouldn't be all to worried.
But like Sauri said, call the customer support, just in case.

Hi Krusty73,
I know it may be difficult for you but if you can, try to use either the "Click to Chat" option or possibly even call Customer Support. These options should give you someone to talk to in real time so they can help you diagnose the problem. http://pleoworld.com/support/contact

I might give it another go. Thanks for coming back on this matter...

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone here has encountered a similar problem to mine.Pleos back right leg has started to constantly make clicking sounds, he can still walk but the clicking gets really loud and annoying, could this be a motor gone faulty,i hope someone else knows about this cos i just dont know what to do, i dont live in america so will this cost me a lot if he needs repairing.he was 100% until the 1.1 download, and im blaming the making him sit down...but that cant be the cause !!!

Hey Furious, this is exactly the same problem that i have with Fossil. Everyone i've spoken to says that his shoulder is out of joint. I'm lucky enough to have a friend who fixes machines at the bbc for a living and she says it should be really easy for her to fix, she says she can just unscrew the pad from the bottom of his foot, roll up the skin on his leg and fix the problem by just clicking the joint back in to place. Sorry i don't really have a solution to your problem though! :(
pleoWhisperer
07-22-2008, 03:27 PM
I had a problem with the right back leg making noise. At least in my case it wasn't a joint. It was the rubber skin that had gotten pulled out of shape, and every time the knee joint bent, the skin was stretched and then would"pop" back into place. I stretched/twisted the skin back into proper place, and the noise has never been back.
FuriousPleo
07-24-2008, 03:31 AM
So I can actually roll up his skin and try fixing this myself? This is better than nothing, i was under the impression you had to cut into pleos skin if you wanted to get underneath.
fossils_mum
07-24-2008, 05:24 AM
I heard that somebody else cut pleos leg to fix this problem, but my friend, who is very tech savy, thinks she should be able to fix the problem by unscrewing the bottom of his foot and rolling up the skin, the skin is very elastic and should fit back perfectly. I haven't seen her yet to ask her to do it for me because she's on holiday, but as soon as she comes back, i'll get her to fix him. I can always let you know how it goes when my friend fixes Fossil?

Had a go at unscrewing the pads and your right, the skin is glued tight, no way of rolling, don't think i will be cutting any skin , have contacted customer support with the prob, should here within 2 business days. Ill try an up a video of him when i get a chance.

~laughs~ Yeah sure, i'll see if i can tape it, but i will probably need some help getting it on youtube, as i have no idea how! They take pictures of your appendix when they take it out, but Fossil will have a video of his entire operation! :)
