First Hatch Questions

Hi All,

Just got my First Hatch Pleo on Wednesday and have really enjoyed waking him up and watching him explore his new world. My 4 cats have been interesting to watch as well. The only female has been rapt watching Pleo and has even been brave enough to give a couple of playful/curious swats with her paw (got to keep and eye on her, and her claws well trimmed). :)

Anyway, I got the First Hatch card and registered the little guy, but I thought I remembered something about First Hatch Pleos coming with "dog tags" or something like a collar. Are the First Hatch Pleos supposed to come with anything besides the standard pack-ins (Leaf, etc...) and the 1st Hatch ID card?

Hi Todd,

The ID card you mentioned is what makes your Pleo special. The next round of Pleo's to be shipped will not have the card identifying them as a First Hatch.

The dog tag idea came from early images of test Pleos that were wearing dog tags. Those tags were used by Ugobe to identify each Pleo they worked with in development.

First hatch vs. not...

I'm unclear as to whether or not there is some indication on the box or the Pleo that it is, in fact, a first hatch.

I received mine directly from Ugobe (Haven't opened yet because we open on the Solstice (AHHHH!) but wanted to know if there was some "honor" that was visual.

The First Hatch which consisted of 2000 Pleo's came with a Gold Identity card inside, AS WILL MIY SONS TOMORROW......Dances round the room :) :) :) He has came a LONG way :)

i got my 1st hatch ( name - Pillu) with gold id card the id crad says itself FIRST HATCH... i think 1st hatch pleso is kinda slow pleo... mine took 12 to 15 times short nap in 1st 1hr 20 min and 1 hr 10 min life time. 1st hatch pleo is taking long time to learn because they are taking data slowly for longer and smart use in future

My Amazon.com Pleo arrived on 12/24 and did not have the First Hatch 'gold card' I've been hearing about. Is anyone aware of the differences between the First Hatch and others besides a 'gold card'? I was wondering if the problems with paint wear (especially the painted teeth) occur more with the First Hatch than the others. :confused:

The only difference is the gold card. Your Amazon.com pleo is the exact same as the first hatch, and appears to have the same problems. But only time will tell.

There is no other way to tell. If your ID card is green and clear then it's not a first hatch.

Actually the First Hatch cards are marked as such on the front of the card in the lower right corner (just below Pleo's head). If you don't have the card, check the serial number attached to the bottom of the right front foot - if the last 4 digits of the number are 2000 or less, its one of the First Hatch batch.

First Hatch cards are gold, regular are green. First hatch cards say "First Hatch" like hjmesman said. But the serial number does not indicate first hatch or not. Many frist hatch pleos have serial numbers over the 2000 mark. Mine is a first hatch with a serial number in the 5000 range. ;)
