I've seen some pictures and videos of Pleo outdoors. I have some questions about that.
How safe is it? I wouldn't certainly put it near any puddles or on wet grass. But can a Pleo safely be on the ground outside without anything sneaking inside her gears such as small pebbles, sand, dirt, etc?
Could extreme heat or cold hurt a Pleo? For instance, is it safe to leave a Pleo in a car in the Florida summer? I personally wouldn't, I'd be afraid it would get stolen or damages. What about cold? I'd like to bring it to my daughter's bus stop after Christmas. I live in Florida, so the coldest it gets here reguarly is 30s, sometimes 20s. Is that safe for the mechanisms inside it?
Can Pleo walk on concrete? If so, would that harm/scratch/or other wise destroy any part of her feet and their sensors?

The companion guide reccomends keeping and playing with pleo indoors.

The youtube video, Caught in the Wild, of Pleo outside in the mulch is one of the "debug" Pleos. I wouldn't suggest operating your Pleo outdoors due to possible exposure - to dust, moisture, etc. Plus, his skin is rather difficult to clean if it gets dirty.

Extremes are bad for any electronic device. If he is really cold, bringing him indoors where it is warm will cause moisture to condense... on his skin as well as internally where you can't see it. Moisture exposure over time can create corrosion on contacts and allow current to jump across circuits in some cases. If this does occur, be sure he is completely dry before attempting to power him on. Heat in cars, especially down south can reach very high temperatures... ever see what a VHS or vinyl record looked like after sitting in the heat for too long? Heat could deform gears, allow the lubricant to leak into other areas where you wouldn't want it, possibly break-down the placidity of the skin, etc.

It's not the sensors that are the issue while walking on concrete, it is Pleo's hard plastic soles. Yes, concrete will scratch up his feet rather quickly.
