I haven't had much luck getting him to go back into his "package" mode by pressing and holding the button as described. Does anyone have hints on how to get this feature to work?

Hi Generic,
How it should work is: Press and hold the Pleo button for ten seconds, then put him down and leave him alone for around five or so seconds. He’ll move around a little bit, then freeze in his packing mode, make a little noise, and go silent. Then turn him off.
I hope that helps :D

PleoWorldHost - Thanks for the tip. I was wondering how to get that to work too. I'll try that as soon as the battery is recharged.

does he still keep his memory in package mode? I know he does any other time.

I had problems the first time too, the guide does not say to hold 10 seconds and then put him down and wait, I only found out by accident that it worked and I thought I did something wrong , where did you find the info?

Maybe I'm just a goof ball, but I can't seem to get it either. I hold the button for 10 seconds, put him down, but he just keeps wagging his head and tail. ...I'm beginning to think she's making sure she doesn't go back in the box!

LOL typical child not wanting to go to sleep right?
So you are holding the button for 10 seconds and then laying your Pleo down right? For how long does Pleo continue to move around. It might take 5 - 10 seconds for Pleo to stop moving.
What I found with mine was to hold the button for 10 second then lay Pleo down on his side for 5 - 10 seconds until he quits moving around. Then try not to move him while you turn him off.

Yeah...I thought my puppy was a pain to get into her cage, pleo in her box...much tougher! lol
Laying it down on it's side is just what did the trick! Thanks so much, now she can travel in safety. (Although I am hoping that Ugobe will come up with some creative carrying case :D )

I'm glad it worked for you. :D I have no suggestions on getting puppies into cages. ;)

I hope someone does come up with a better carrying case. Cats are hard to get in their cargo cage too.

I went to my parents at Xmas. I had a styrofoam cooler that I use to transport my reptiles to the vet. Pleo fit pretty well it it and of course the handles were an added bonus. Yep, this is low tech but it provides pretty safe cheap transport.

Good tip Cami it worked and my pleo froze after laying him down for 5 seconds after holding the pleo button for 10 seconds.
Hey there! So I tried the pleo button... sound works fine, but shipping mode, noy so much. All he does is growl or shouts. I hold it for 10, enen 30 seconds... nothing.:(

Did you try this? After holding for 10 seconds, let go and let him be for 5 seconds or so. He will go into shipping position. Then, without waking him up accidentally, turn him off.

Make sure Pleo is charged and turned on. Hold The Pleo Button for approximately 10 seconds. Lay Pleo down on his side. He will move for a few seconds, then quiet down. Carefully turn Pleo off without shaking or waking him up.
You don't have to lay Pleo on his side, but I find this the easiest way to turn him off without waking him back up.
