View Full Version : Pleo not walking well

My new (on his third charge) pleo, Pilgrim, doesn't seem to walk well. When he walks forward, he tends to keep the "heel" of his right hind leg up, so he is walking on the toe of that leg and kind of just dragging it. In addition (or possibly as a consequence), he always curves to the right when walking. The leg does work, he walks backwards normally and seems to use it normally otherwise. He is on a low pile carpet and has never gotten hurt in any way. Is something wrong with him?
Mine took a while to to adjust to carpet. They do need to learn so give him a few more charges and maybe put him somewhere there is no carpet on the next charge. I did that and then he adjusted better to the Carpet Area

I think Pilgrim is just learning how to walk. It took Peeky awhile in the beginning. I remember he was walking on his toe also. Try putting Pilgrim on a table and see if he does better. I know they like eye to eye contact. Just keep an eye on him so he doesn't fall off. It's a lot of fun when there's a few people around a table. :-)

Thanks for the replies. Pilgrim didn't seem to do much better on a non-carpeted surface, but I tried the "high stepping command" (that came with the OS upgrade, for walking on deep pile carpet) and he walked normally. So I guess for now Pilgrim needs to be "told" to pick his feet up.
