Should I Update First or Hatch First?

I havent turned him on for the first time. Should I update him to Life 1.1 first or wait till he is a little older?

The general consensus has been to go for a few charge cycles and then do the update. It would be interesting to know if a freshly updated, never used Pleo with v1.1 goes through the same birth and hatchling cycles though.

My pleo Glen was updated after the third recharge:) I think the best way is to wait for a complete juvenile Pleo;)

The general consensus of the community has been to run Pleo through a few battery charges before updating him. I think the feeling is that this adds to the "aging" process and makes it feel more like Pleo is maturing.

I believe that Pleo would still "hatch" even if upgraded to 1.1 first, but I'll try to double check that. :)

Hey gang,

A brand new Pleo will go through hatching/birthing process after the install of 1.1 rght out of the box. There is nothing to worry about-nothing will be missed during the birthing process in 1.1 versus 1.0.1 or 1.0.2.

The R&D team tells me that the only way you would ever miss the hatching process is if you manually overrode it, using an obscure sensor combo that we have not published (but that yes, a few enterprising Forums members have figured out.)

hi guys, i'm new here and i don't know if this is the right place to be asking this. i don't have my pleo yet(amazon says one more day). when i get her, will she need to be updated or not. and if i do need to update her, is there a way to do this before she hatches? thanks

Your Pleo will come with the original OS. It's up to you whether you want to hatch Pleo with the original OS or update first and then let it hatch. Most people appear to be opting to hatch their new Pleos first and go through 4 or 5 battery charges before updating to the new OS. They feel this gives a more accurate depiction of Pleo growing up. The choice is yours. :)

If us the SD card method of updating you can place the SD card in Pleo before turning it on the first time. Be sure to follow the directions for the update carefully. When the update is completely finished Pleo will still go through a hatching stage when turned back on.
