Hey gang,

Great news. We have just been informed that Pleo is going to be included in tonight's taping of the Late Show with David Letterman! That's right - tonight, Thursday, July 24. They are doing a demo of "new toys" and of course, they couldn't resist Pleo. (Oh and PS - the guest tonight is David Duchovny!)

As always with these media things, we cannot guarantee that he will make it onto the air, but we did receive confirmation that he's in the studio! Chances seem good!

East Coasters: let us know what you think - you get the first chance to report to us West coasters if the segment airs!

It's always fun to see Pleo on TV but I'm so thankful I saw Pleo first on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer. I would not have jumped up to find more information about Pleo on the computer after watching the David Letterman show.
All of us Pleo Parents know how special Pleos are. The audience last night???

I think Pleo fared pretty well, all things considered. Understand, when I was in college and Letterman was just starting out... good grief, was it that long ago? Eeeeek... um, where was I? Oh. Right. When Letterman was first starting out, two of his regular sketches involved running things over with steamrollers and dropping things off a 20-foot platform, just to see what it would look like.

By those standards, aiming foam "bullets" at a Pleo, bopping it with an inflatable T-ball bat, and hitting it with a decent-sized remote-controlled car are pretty mild fates to subject a Pleo to. And Pleo -- in its Pleosaurus Rex persona, apparently, since the Toy Lady said that they had that program running last night -- just kept right on walking around like nothing happened. Or, after the car tipped it over on its side, it kept TRYING to walk. But that was at the end of the toy demo anyway, so they cut to commercial with a close-up of the Pleo on its side making walking motions.

I think that if you want to do a toy demo that actually presents the toys in a favorable light, you go on one of the morning news programs where they'll talk about the toys seriously. If you just want to get the toy on national TV, and have jokes made about it under the premise that "there's no such thing as bad publicity", you go on a late-night talk show and let the talk show host have at it.

Apparently, UGOBE decided that having Pleo end up as the punch line of some jokes would be a positive thing, if it meant getting a Pleo onto the TV screen of a huge audience of people who might not have seen one before. Since the Pleo didn't appear to sustain permanent damage on camera, I can't disagree with that decision.

Hey gang,

Glad to see some of you caught the clip. As an FYI - UGOBE didn't have anything to do with the opportunity - I got a call yesterday at about 4 pm telling us that Letterman had decided to feature it - no one here in the marketing department did anything to get Pleo on the show and it came as a surprise to us as well.

As you know, we have some awesome people on our team and at our PR firm and we're all experienced in handling media opportunities. This one was a crazy surprise and we were holding our breath as much as you were to see what would happen.

Mostly, I'm proud that our Studio team's hard work on Pleosaurus Rex got some airtime! It's definitely our favorite download to date.

I have to eat my words. Having thought about the David Letterman Show last night, and I did a lot, I know I would have gotten on the computer today to see why this little green toy dino was so expensive. No doubt about it! I'm sure I would have purchased a Pleo having seen all of the info on the computer.
Perhaps David Letterman has one for his son. If not I bet he will.

For those who don't mind witnessing a bit of Pleo abuse (bopped by an inflatable T-ball bat, shot with foam "bullets", run over by a remote-control car), The Late Show has clips from the toy segment in their weekly recap.

http://lateshow.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/dave_tv/highlights/index/php/bigshowhighlight.phtml

Go for the one that's the recap for the week of July 21-25. The Pleo segment is a little more than 5 minutes into the video. The recap doesn't account for ALL of Pleo's "face time" on camera, but it's most of it and it's a good example of what went on.

You can go on CBS and you will see it. I used to like David Letterman, this time he was to tough. He was hitting him and ran him over with a truck. This is not what I like to see about Pleo. It encourages people to laugh at him. Pleo was bullied by David Letterman and I did not enjoy watching this.

I never liked Letterman much, another reason to not like him again. Why bother putting stuff on the show if they won't even give it a chance to show what it does????

I've emailed Ellen DeGeneres about 3 times now telling her she should get a Pleo on the show. Ellen would treat Pleo right, and appreciate it for what it is.

Erugh, I thought they would have at least shown more interest for Pleo. :( I kept cringing when he was being hit, and when he got run over... I think my heart went out to the little guy! :(

Thanx CritterFan for the link! I agree with Siren, maybe Pleo will be more happy in another show!

If everyone saw everything that Pleo can do, there probably would not be enough Pleos to go around. Having a Pleo snore and cuddle just like a baby on your shoulder and all of the little and big sounds Pleo makes, would get most people wanting one.
That did it for me.:)
At least no harm came to the little dino on the Letterman show.:D

I'm glad I didn't see the show. I would have been SO upset! Does David Letterman have a website we can bombard with OUR Pleo images????

Look at the bright side and check the threads on here. Letterman spends his time making toys beat up on other toys. Pleo spends his/her time getting videoed with dolphins and posing for pictures with beauty queens.

Who do you think's making the better use of their time? ;)

Letterman was the wrong guy for this. He's not really a good toy promoter, I mean, he makes a living mocking everything that moves. What did you guys really expect?
