Hello,

Here you can see to exchange the LifeOS own his Skit with an SD Card.
Without the Updater from Ugobe!

You can "Update" your own Skit
You can "Update" the Original LifeOS (urf) again! :cool:
(Good for Bricking Pleos ?)

Looks nice and interresting.

But I don't know if I see the point yet!

Is he overwriting the original live os with a sort of skit file with random function, or is this a real home made live os?
Looks to me that the german guy is just copying his SD card into Pleo and pleo is running the urf file from its internal memory.
The last thing is the most interesting part. Turning Pleo back to the original state. Thats usefull for bricked Pleo's.

someone knows what it the file "pm_ilock" is?
sometimes When i update Pleo he calls the file "pm_ilock" and Update than!

And where is stored the Saved update urf or .pm ?
i cant find the "drive" or so

Next i will Update the Head and Pleo img files new.
But i think it is verry dangerous and difficult =/

i think he learn to fast and he can learn motions faster. To fast. He is hyperactive.
Tomorrow he was play Dog motions when i reset him and he hatches !
I have Update so often but that is the first time with this error.

i think that the head.img oder pleo.img updatet with error or so?
i have no idea... for what are the head.img and pleo.img?
where can help?

Hi LuCa 1988. Welcome to the forum. You are doing great with your English. Have you named your Pleo?

Language may be a barrier, but I'll try to reply as best I can.
In general I recommend against using the updater for custom images.
Any tools you write for modifying the PLEOPM URF file can work easier and safer using the SD card approach.

It sounds like you are changing the PLEOPM personality, and uploading it to the Pleo using the USB Update/Installer program.
In general I don't recommend this approach. IMHO It is much easier to place the modified PLEOPM as a .URF file on the SD card, and insert the SD card into the Pleo.
The personality will boot the same as it would if it was inside the robot, but with some advantages:

Advantages of using an SD card:
You aren't constantly reflashing the dog's internal memory
Faster to install new versions if you use a fast SD card
You aren't limited to the 4MB internal memory size (and don't have to worry about 'filling it up')
Remove the SD card and Pleo will boot like normal.

ie. Safe for everyone to try.

That's part of the update process.
Please see above. If you use the SD card approach instead, you won't have this problem.

I am not sure what you are asking.
The UPDATE.URF modules released by UGOBE are not stored anywhere. They are a program that reflashes the internal memory. Data components like the PLEOPM personality, "head.img" and "pleo.img" are used there temporarily, and flashed into the appropriate location

'head.img' is the firmware for the Head CPU (32KB). It is closed source. Also the .img files are encrypted to make it slightly more difficult to do what you are doing.
'pleo.img' is the firmware for the main CPU (240KB). It is closed source. Also encrypted.

The Pleo is designed well so that even if you screw up these files, the system can be repaired.
Here are some of my old notes on the two CPUs (mostly obsolete, should hopefully be updated once the PDK is released, even though the PDK doesn't address ARM programming)

I don't understand this. Are you redoing the motions or tweeking the code?
An example .URF file of what you are changing would be appreciated. That would explain much of what you are doing
