I just saw them yesterday at sharper image for that same price. I almost picked up a second one but the husband had to take me out of the store lol.

I can't seem to resist buying these cute bots. I wonder if the price will drop even lower if the company is going under. FAO shwartz did the same thing a while back with aibos before they left orlando and I got them for about $500 compared to the $850 tag that the 300 series ones had.

So I might hold out a little :).

I have a Sharper Image right up the street from my office and that's where I got Henry. With tax, he was $301. I didn't buy the extended warranty cuz of the bankrupt thing tho.

I wuld verify with Ugobe. Extended warranties offered by stores are usually handles by the store, not the manufacturer. Ugobe only offers an 90 day warranty.

Pleos are appreciating in VALUE! = you can hedge against your house price going down! - invest in pleos now, while it's not too late! Protect yourself against the economic recession (that we all know is coming)!

To me, it's interesting to watch the number of "active members" of the forums. You can think of it as a way to judge interest in pleo. As new people join the forums, the number goes up. As existing members don't participate in the forums, they become "inactive" and drop off the count. People come, participate for a while, loose interest, and drop out. But new people are always coming in as old people drop off. The total membership is always going up, but the active count goes up and down. If you use that as your "Dow Jones Average" then your stock market will have it's fluctuatins up and down....

It's actually a third part company called NEW. If you have the warranty on your Pleo and it breaks, you have to go back to Sharper Image to get their help! :D

I first saw PLEO several months ago in a Sharper Image cataloge... I didnt get him until a few weeks ago but there is a sharper image in my mall, and i got here whenever I can just to sit in the massage chair... I used to go to see Pleo, but now I have mine so (even though I want my pleo to meet the sharper image pleo) i don't have to anymore. I luv sharper image... cool stuff

I know some of the Sharper Image stores are closing or have closed. Our store had a lower price for Pleo too (one of the stores closing) I received a new catalog from them and I'm wondering if just some of the stores are closing or if all are. Perhaps they will keep some of the stores open. It's a great store!

I just looked online and they have it listed for $349. So maybe only some of the stores are closing and those are the ones with the discounts. It would be nice to find out for sure.

I shamefully took advantage of Sharper Image's bankruptcy and purchased Pleo from them. According to the salesperson I spoke to yes, Ugobe will handle all returns and shipping.

I only paid 290$ including tax, but I had to walk out of the mall and onto public transportation clutching a giant box. Quite a sight, I'm sure.


(I also bought a Roboquad floor model from the store, EXTREMELY cheap, only about $19.95 compared with its $80 price tag. I wonder if the store would sell the dummy floor model Pleo...hmm...)

My wife finds Maxi disgusting, gross and she doesn't even want to see the box. It terrifies her, she screamed, shook, trembled and broke out sweaty and cold. Seriously... to her it is a big terrifying lizard. I had to spend 45 minutes calming her down. I should have known I guess, she is also terrified of snakes. So I the Pleo is a success… it passes as a life form. I don't quite know what to do now with Maxi as I can’t have both her and my wife out of the box at the same time. OK, my wife is never in the box. Just bad grammar.

The stories from that maker Faire was that it didn't overheat. The sensors weren't as sensitive, but oddly heat was not a major issue. Hopefully we can get someone from Ugobe to comment on this outfit.

While the deals on Pleo at the closing Sharper Image stores are pretty amazing, I have found that they aren't covered by the nice Ugobe warranty!

I was told by official Ugobe Customer Service that the Pleos at Sharper Image are often floor models that have been resealed! Because of this they aren't covered by warranty. I had to BUY a replacement charger for my Pleo after the one that came with him failed.

Just a quick bit of info for those of you who are thinking of picking one up from Sharper Image.

Did you happen to check with The Sharper Image to see if they had any kind of warranty? Usually retailers have a nintey day warranty on merchandise... unless it is bought on clearance. Anyway, I am sorry you are having issues with Leo.

I got Schroeder from Sharper Image with a thee year warranty plan. I paid about $50 for that, I think. A few weeks after I got him, he had a broken neck along with his brother. I had no problems with Sharper Image. They sent me the return information and were very prompt about getting new Schroeder to me after they received my returned Pleo.

It's unfortunate that people have such vastly different experiences with some of these places. It probably depends on which operator you get on a given day and whether s/he's a happy camper.

I checked this out and Brian explained it to me. They did file for bankruptcy and they are closing or have closed about half of its retail locations but it is reorganizing from there. They may continue online sales though which is all I use. But if there is no longer a Sharper Image, my warranty already replaced one Pleo for me. So it will be okay even if they do.

Knowing I can pay less for a new Pleo and keep Schroeder's personality isn't a bad option ;)
