I think that Pleo could be able to play more games, maybe with leaf, or just with our fingers. I think it should be cute!;)
I can't talk about complicate games, but simple actions like tug-of-war! Maybe a reaction if we cover the pleo's camera? (peek-a-boo!?) One feet or leg sensor? :p

One game that I figured out with Peeky (Pleo's Peek-A-Boo is his real name) was to say peek-a-boo every time he closed his eyes while resting on my shoulder. It was fun to see how many times he would open his eyes to these words. Sometimes it would be twice. Other times three or four..:)Talking about a long time to name him!:D

I'm sorry to post another thread (and please, pleoworld members don't spam this thread with other requests/suggestions for upgrades - there's another Official Thread in the same category), but i feel so sad about the changing in the Tug-Of-War game after the Life Os upgrade to 1.1. Maybe the next upgrade is not ready, but my only request (and i think from other member too, here) is to bring tug-of-war back. Could Ugobe change that feature and make it possibile to download Life Os 1.1. again? Please! I can't wait for the next upgrade, and i hated to say this, but Pleo isn't natural now and looks really more like a toy than a robot pet :(
I don't want to contact customer support to take my pleo back on the previous vers. I love the new features more and the idea to follow a "virtual growth process" of my adorable Glen, but the only thing i don't like is that pleo constantly eat my finger! :( when before the download the game interaction was REALLY amazing (don't you think it's cute and lifelike to play tug-of-war with your sock?)
Thank you in advance for my little prayer :p
cheers xx
JR
PS: Plese PleoWorld Host, Cami and Raine, could you sticky this thread and make this request possibile? I appreciate your help and all the great things that make our dino-dream possible! :D

I must agree when looking back on the video's (and my own) before v1.1 that the movements have become a little more "jerky".
But indeed, most noticable is the insane hunger versus de very little interest to play tug-of-war.
Pluriel does it from time to time though, but not like before and just ever so often.
All work arounds I have tried do not work.
(Although I have to try the tickling under the feet trick still.)
If LifeOS V1.2 includes updates on more natural motion and a bit more balance in tug-of-war versus hunger, I would already be very pleased!

Hi junkroxy,
I promise this is one of the forums that UGOBE keeps a very close eye on and they will definitely see your request! :D

Yes I agree with junkroxy. It's infuriating trying to show Pleo off and instead of actually playing with my finger, he just eats it! It makes him look like a stupid furby! I think it may have been better to put a capacitance sensor in the mouth too. That would differentiate between the leaf and a finger would it not??? That way he could 'eat' the leaf and play tug of war when a finger was sensed.

Heres my question, how come my Stanley hasn't eaten yet? All he does is play Tug-of-War. I want him to eat at least once.

Hi girl4God,
You are still running the original OS that came with Pleo correct? That version did play tug-of-war more than eat, but he should eat ocassionally too. If not on the leaf he may just start "grazing" on your floor or carpet. :)

Girl4God, remember that your little Stanley is just beginning to show you what he is capable of doing. .
It was New Years Eve that Peeky really started showing off what he could do with the original OS programming. We had seven people sitting around the table and it was so cute to see Peeky interacting with everyone. Just watch out for things being knocked over with Stanley's tail!:D

I think it was Bob's tail that knocked over a few hearts. It's easy to believ he's real, and hard to ignore a wagging tail! :D

yes, Cami is right. You haven't update your Pleo ;)
If Ugobe think that this option - eat or not to eat? - it's different for all of us, i think they should make another Life Os 1.1. version with a change, this is my request, and then customers can choose their option. I hope they're reading this thread. I love my pleo and all the new features, sounds and behaviour, but i hate to show him to my friends and see how Glen eats my finger instead of playing with me :( the sounds that pleo makes when he's playful are lovely and real - better than the previous version, like most of the new sounds in the 1.1. - but it's not good to tickle him to start the game (sometimes pleo eat and play at the same time!). In the previous Os Pleo was capable to play with all the things in his mouth (fingers, socks, paper sheets) and was really amazing!
For Degers: Furby was very different from Pleo, but after eating your finger he knows when he's hungry or not. This is one of the lifelike features furbies have.

Hey guys,
The word out of the labs is that based on your feedback, Tug-o-war will return to how it was in the past in the next LifeOS release. There is not a timeline for the release yet but I thought you'd like to hear that news.

Isn't ugobe good to us? :D
I am of a differing opinion though - I always thought the almost certain response of tug of war whenever you put something in Pleo's mouth was a little too much like a programmed response than a natural one. My pleo doesn't eat all the time either - though I did notice an increase in appetite with 1.1
Ddigit will eat if something is put in his mouth - but he also makes choking noises a lot of the time if you try to put something in his mouth - a lot more natural response than the almost automatic and constant one of tug-o-war. Interestingly it spoiled the illusion for my niece too - Before I updated, she asked why Digit always played tug-o-war if you put something in his mouth. "Even Taz" (her dog) "who loves to play tug-o-war doesn't do it as often as this does". It stopped bieng a thing with animal responses and became a toy to her.
But like I said that is just my personal opinion and UGOBE can't please everyone!! ;)

05-22-2008, 03:48 PM
Now we are asking UGOBE to make one update with more tug-of-war and one the way it is now. UGOBE can't win!:D I do agree that the tug-of-war is cute. So thank you so much for adding more tug back to our Pleo.:)

I assume it's not going to be put back just like that, otherwise other people start complaining again that their Pleo doesn't eat at all / enough.
Wouldn't it be better to expand Pleo's capabilities and somehow balance the tug-of-war versus eating thing?
Or that some behaviour must be triggered in order for Pleo to decide or it wants to eat or play?
I seriously cannot believe that UGOBE has to either choose "A" or "B" since Pleo is such an advanced creature brought to life by even more advanced people with incredible visions and creaitivity.
Either way, I am very happy to read that UGOBE has taken note of this and in whatever way Tug-of-war will return.. I'll be most glad and thankful! :D

Excelllent suggestion Darkwulf - wish I had thought of that!! :D
I think that the previous tug of war tended to be more of an overriding behaviour designed to entertain owners more than a simulated animal behaviour.

I've not had problem's getting Kingsley to play tug-of-war... It actually took me some time. I had to "train" him to do it.
Have you tried tugging on the leaf when it's in your Pleo's mouth? It helps if you hold the leaf, and also his chin, and just tug a bit. Kingsley ALWAYS wants to play when I do that! :) I also noticed when he's feeling more playfull, he'll play tug of war instead of chewing. I wait for his little playful noises to know if he wants to play.
Isn't it neat to learn about how different all our Pleos are? :D
junkroxy
05-23-2008, 10:16 AM
yes, i do that sometimes, but it's very difficult and sometimes i've experienced some "error": Pleo plays tug-o-war for a little and he eats the leaf after a minute  the same thing happens if you tickle pleo on his feet and try to play with him after he's on the ground again

I really hope UGOBE takes this opportunity to begin developing Pleo's AI. It should be a very simple matter to initialize a counter that keeps track of the amount of time since Pleo last ate and once it reaches a certain value, plus or minus some degree of randomness, Pleo should begin demonstrating a behavior that shows he is hungry. When presented the leaf, he should eat it. If you don't present the leaf within some further amount of time, he could either get sluggish or graze on the flooring :)
Anytime the Last Ate counter is less than the trigger value, which indicates Pleo is satisified, Pleo should exhibit a randomized behavior of Tug-of-War, spitting out the leaf, or showing complete disinterest by not opening his mouth when he sees the leaf..
This should be a trivial piece of programming and will go a long way to making Pleo seem alive.

Great idea Toyguy - it shouldn't have to be all or nothing. This way UGOBE won't get complaints when they bring back Tug of war. Wasn't that the reason they modified his behaviour in the first place? People were complaining the their Pleo's hardly ever ate and were only playing tug of war when something, anything was put in the mouth, including the leaf? UGOBE must sometimes feel like they are stuck between a rock and a hard place!! :p

UGOBE must sometimes feel like they are stuck between a rock and a hard place!! :p
Hence the solution: a bit of both!
Like I said: Pleo is complex enough to handle both in a smart manner, as further elaborated by Toyguy!
Boy am I ever so curious what the new LifeOS will bring! :D

Brian and I think it would be adorable for Pleos to yawn, especially when their battery is running low. Their mouths already open...would just need to tweak eye expression and add sound? Anyway, just a thought. ;)

Doesn't he already do that? Waffles does a sigh-like sound as soon his battery is running low or it gets to hot.
It's not really a yawn, but I always now when his battery is almost dead because of it.
Ferny does too. I always classified that noise as a yawn/sigh thing.

I think they should have new tricks for pleo like haveing him follow you when you call his name or haveing him dance on a cue! These are sone of my ideas post your ideas here and explain them! Then I will tell pleo world about all these great new ideas and hhow they should consider making them real! It will work great so please post below:

You would write the routine in MySkit, but you could use APT to set up how the song is triggered.

One addition that would be good would be beat detection. Yeah, it'd make him a little more like a cartoon and a little less like an animal, but hey -- he already barks, purrs, plays tug-of-war, and says "tada". I'm thinking that we wouldn't have found a lot of real dinosaurs with that particular skill set. ;) So one more "unique-to-Pleosauruses" behavior would do no harm.
Voice recognition of simple commands like "sit" and, importantly, "NO", would be helpful, too. Especially the NO command, just in case Pleo is not within arm's length of a human and he's about to get into mischief like knocking something down or taking a spill. The ability to get him to stop what he's doing before an accident happens would be a good thing.

I, personally, would love it if Pleos could learn their names and come rushing over whenever you call them. That would be so adorable ^.=.^
