Awesome Ugobe! One question though, what about Pleos older than their 90 day warrenty? If Pixie or Crusoe broke I'd hope I could send them in for the same program, and would not mind at all paying a higher price for the fix.

It would be a pleasant surprise it the reincarnation-advantage would be offered overseas - somehow I doubt it though.... It would be nice to get an answer so we know.

However, y'all here in Europe - remmeber we have a better warranty (thanks to Eu legislation I think) so the European vendors should exchange/repair at no cost if it's a warranty-type issue. If Pleo broke for some other non-warranty reason, the Reincarnation-replacement would be very welcome (especially with the prices we pay here in Europe for Pleo, mine was over $ 600 with the current exchange rate)

I'm still waiting for my Pleo, which I ordered last night. However, having spent a lot of time since then reviewing these forums, it's good to know that if said Pleo suffers irreparable damage, I can still keep his personality, even if that means it's installed in a new mechanism.

I wanted to update you all. Currently the Pleo Reincarnation is only available in the U.S, but UGOBE is looking to see how this can be expanded worldwide. Have patience and we'll update you when we can. :D

I have another question. I bought a first hatch from UGOBE US but now I live in Europe... Can I use the US Reincarnation (can they send it back to Europe). And if it needs replacement, will I get back a first hatch or "normal" one?

I'll see what I can find out about US purchases taken to other countries, but my guess is going to be no.

As to First Hatch, the Pleo's themselves are no different than the Pleo's being sold now.

Here is the official answer:

Currently Pleos taken outside the country would be difficult to service therefore the program is not offered overseas.

However, the Japanese distributor is working on implementing a similar program.

And for those of you with newer Pleos still under the 90 day warranty period, if you have upgraded your Pleo to Life OS 1.1 they will transfer your Pleo's Personality during the RMA process. :D

I am SO glad Ugobe has addressed this issue. Replacing a worn out body/mechanism is fine, but without the personality it would be a sad thing. But with Reincarnation you won't have to lose that. I anm thrilled. It makes me feel like Ugobe has really looked hard at this making a new lifeform thing and recognized that you can't make people feel for and fall in love with Pleo and then just say, well ok here's a new one. You can't swap one person for another and have it be the same. So taking the "soul" from a broken Pleo is the best fix possible. Personally, although obviously money IS an issue, just knowing this option is out there makes me think Ugobe is the best. They have found a customer for life!

Hi Degers,

Pleo’s personality is shaped over time in subtle ways and this is visible to owners in LifeOS 1.1. Absolutely, a Pleo who has been loved and coddled exhibits different personality than a Pleo who has been ignored and left to wander around, or a Pleo who is regularly abused. While it is true that all Pleos have the same drives – hunger, sociability, curiosity, etc – they do not all act on those drives identically, and the choices they make are influenced by the interactions they have with their owners.

What Pleo has experienced is stored in memory and when we “reincarnate” yours, we move those “memories” over to a new dinosaur and he or she will pick up where your old friend left off. Hope this helps :-)
