Turning on Pleo?

I just got my Pleo two days ago so I'm inexperienced.

Do I have to turn Pleo (not named yet) over on his back to make him work?
Also, does anyone have trouble seating the battery?

I'm already so attatched that I only want to send Pleo back if I really have to.

Hi Bray, Welcome to Pleoworld. You are probably among the magority in getting your Pleo working. I did everything you probably doing when I first got Peeky. Evenually I looked in the companion guide and followed step by step. how to charge battery and install it. I'm the kind of person that just tries to do everything on my own.
I started Christmas morning and finally got my little guy to go by the evening with the help of my guide.
The little roundish tab on top of the battery lifts up and turns. Have the little writing on the left side of your Pleo. If you put it in with the wrong side that says PLEO it will not fit.Once in turn tab to the left.Flatten in back down to the original place. WHOOH! See what I mean it's easier to read the guide. Let us know how it goes!:)

Thanks very much FancyFont. You're very reassuring. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with a learning curve.

I had read the instruction book (I always read everything that comes in the box) but I still couldn't get the battery pack seated. I waited until a stronger friend came along and he managed to press it down all the way.

The next time I activated my Pleo she/he started from a standing position. Maybe it was because he's still hatching.

Thanks so much for the reassurance. I guess I would have been a very nervous mother.
