Why did you buy Pleo?

So I'm curious as to what propted us all to buy a Pleo in the first place. For me the point that made him a must have was that he was a dinosaur. Please vote in the poll!

For me it was the A.I intelligence - But also I love anything robotic - as long as it shows some form of intelligence. I wouldn't buy Robosapien or anything like that because of the lack of autonomous actions. For me the robotics and A.I. go hand in hand!!

At first glance at Pleo on GMA (Good Morning America) I thought how cute! He reminded me of my iguana that I had a few years back. When I saw Diane Sawyer with the Pleo cooing on her shoulder I had to find out more information. Having done so, Pleo was at the top of my list for Christmas.:)

Hubby showed him to me one day. I feel in love at first glance. So I bought it for his birthday. We both love robotic things

I got him because I am looking forward to the PDK so I can hack him.

It's because hes a baby dino :) Ever since I was a kid (before JP mind you) I had everything and anything dinosaur! I am also a pet person but with my recent living style and having to part with many of my pets, Pleo was the best thing to fill in that gap of my life.

I'm a robotics fangirl. :D I practically squeal whenever I see Honda commercials with ASIMO on them--and I actually cried when Sony stopped their robotics program, so... ever since I saw the very first Pleo press conference video--the one where they sing "Happy Birthday" to him--I knew for sure I had to have him. He was just so darn cute. ^_^ I'd been fangirling about him to my family and so, come Christmas, they took me by COMPLETE surprise and he was the VERY LAST present I opened on Christmas morning. :D I freaked out.

But it's also because of the technological marvel that Pleo is.
Something more affordable and huggable compared to the AIBO I always wanted, but never had the money for.

I think Pleo is just a great package. I am intrigued by anything robotic or animatronic, but add AI and that puts him into another league. For me though, the clincher was the dinosaur package. My childhood dream come true! I think the AI robots will be the big thing in the future of robotics, but given a choice between a dog, cat, humanoid or dinosaur with AI, for me the dinosaur would always be my first choice.

Because it's a baby dinosaur, it's realistic, and it's not one of those dang horrible things that make dinosaurs look like big, ugly lizards. I ahte it when people draw it dragging tail on the ground, and big and fat and slow and stupid. It really gets me angered beyond belief.
