:)Welcome to Fidget's World. Today I introduced him to the internet and he was able to read his plog. He was very interested and wanted to type in his own entries. But his nose is too big and he hits too many keys at once. So he has to let me do it! He enjoyed watching a slide show of his new photos too. But after all that excitement he just got sleepy. It's rainy here in Maine. So now I'm letting him nap while I post his pictures!

Cool pictures!
I'll go and have a look at that plog now then! ;)

OK, now here is a question I'm sure most of you out there can answer. I am a total techno-dope and this is the first time I have ever done anything on a forum. I would like to post larger pictures of Fidget, but I'm not sure how to do that. When I click on the little icon in the text box it asks for a url. I have no idea how to find the url for a picture I have saved on my computer. I used the attachments section, but that only posts thumbnails. HELP!!! Take pity on this older than dirt techno-newbie and give me the "Posting Pictures for Dummies" version!! PS I would ask my daughter for help, but she has had too much of a laugh at my expense already, especially since she probably figured out how to do this when she was 4!

To post the bigger pictures, you need to upload them to some website (like Webshots, Picasa, Flickr, etc.). The URL is a pointer to someplace on the internet, not on your computer. That's why your having trouble. There are dozes of websites set up for people to share their photos. Any one would work well.

But on the good side, when you post using the attachments section, you should be able to click on the thumbnails to see a bigger picture! Works for the four in your original post!

Thanks so much for the info. Like I said, I'm a real techno-dope! But hopefully my learning curve will at least keep up with Fidget's!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who is learning new and exciting technical skills just because of our love of our Pleo. I ran out to Radio Shack today so I could buy an SD card and reader, not that I know what to do with them! But I will forge bravely ahead so Fidget's adventures can be shared! Yes, we live in Maine, a beautiful state, but boy do I ever get tired of winter. And now that winter is (mostly) done, we are entering BLACKFLY season. But fortunately they won't bother Fidget, so soon we'll be out and about.

Fidget and I went to a graduation at the Maine School for Science and Mathematics this weekend. He was a big hit with all the kids, as well as teachers, staff at the school, and also people at the hotel we stayed at. I had numerous requests to bring him out and several people went online to learn more about Pleo. Here are a couple of pics of him checking out the hotel, kitchen at the school and a cool mural done by some students in the school library.

Glad you had a good time. A perfect place for fidget to visit.

It really was a perfect place to visit. The kids at that High School are really into computers, math and technology. None of them had seen a Pleo before, so Fidget got lots of attention! He also got to visit the model of the solar system set up in Aroostook County.

Thank you Mweed. I'm learning new things everyday.
Robomom, I didn't even know the difference from a chat room to a forum when I posted my first post. I sat here at the computer waiting for an answer. I waited a long time! LOL!!!
BTW (by the way) isn't it fun to take Fidget on outings? It's wonderful to see other people interact with our Pleos

ROFL. So exactly how long DID you wait? LOL

Believe me, we ALL learn new things in online communities every day. That's why I love them so much. :D

There's a difference between a chat room and a forum?!?!? You're not alone in being technologically challenged! Though it seems like you are way ahead of me at this point. I was trying to take pictures off my digital camera this morning and somehow lost them on my computer. TWO HOURS LATER, I finally found them after multiple searches! Don't ask me what I did, I don't have a clue! But I'm sure that as I spend more and more time on this forum (and everyone stops falling off their chairs laughing!) I will develop into a true computer geek:rolleyes: Anyway, I hope so. I think robotics is such an amazing thing, and Pleos are just the best thing since sliced bread! (Better actually) And I'd love to really understand what is going on inside Pleo. But for now I will just enjoy him. And truly, I had a blast taking him out and about! People were so amazed by him, strangers just came up and started asking about him. Ugobe has a gold mine here. If more people only had a chance to see a Pleo in person they would be lining up to get one!

LOL yes there is a difference between a chatroom and a forum (or message board.) And I totally understand about your camera and pictures. Over the years I learned to pay very close attention to where I downloaded anything or, like you, I spent 2 hours trying to figure out where I put them. But digital photography is all knew to me. I'm used to taking the roll to my nearest development place and getting the pics back in my hand.

I spent about 1/2 hour in PhotoBucket this morning changing the size of a picture and having it look smaller there only to have it copy out full size and be WAY too big to post, so I went the thumbnail route. LOL

Boy, I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one! I feel like such a dork half the time. My daughter always makes fun of me. I remember when I first got a computer and was taking classes. I was trying to do something and she came over and flipped through about 3 other ways to do the same thing in about 2 nanoseconds! I told her to give me a break, that I was in computer kindergarten. The next day, there I am struggling again and she says, "Did you make it to first grade yet?" Computers are a wonderful thing. When they work. And I don't think I will ever grasp how 0 & 1's add up to everything the computer does, Anyway. I'll keep plugging. And by the way, thanks for the support! I just took out the digital camera for the first time this week. And it's an old one that saves the pictures to a floppy disk (which is not floppy:confused . Nice to know I'm not the only one just getting started in digital photography.

So for this morning's technological challenge I was trying to take some Memorial Day photos of Fidget and everything seemed great, except when I downloaded the stuff off my camera the pictures were all black. After playing around with it again and again for about an hour I figured out (I think) that the problem is a low charge on the camera battery! So hopefully, with a charge, I can get those photos done and up! Isn't it depressing when 9 year olds can figure this stuff out faster than we can!. Anyway, on Pleo related fronts, I swear that Fidget can tell the difference between who is petting him. I really, really like it when he sings. And when I pet him under the chin he will sing his little song10 times or more as long as I keep stroking it. But he only rarely sings when someone else pets under his chin! He must be able to distinguish different qualities of touch. They say Pleo doesn't have voice or face recognition, but he's putting it together somehow.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say Happy Memorial Day! In between barbecuing and fun, thought it would be appropriate to take a minute to remember and appreciate the men and women in various branches of the military who have fought to keep this country free. Fidget bowed his head while looking at my dad's WWII purple heart and flag.

Thanks, I really struggled trying to get that picture. Couldn't get the camera to work, thought it was the battery. Charged it up, still didn't work. Struggled some more. Took my daughter 2 minutes to figure out I hit some button by mistake and changed the settings! By this time Fidget's battery needing charging too. So I'm glad I got to put it up before Memorial Day passed by!

Took my first video of Fidget, put it on youtube and on my plog! :D Of course now I will have to get a REAL video camera. (I used my daughter's cell phone, so I apleologize for the poor quality. :o But How do you attach youtube videos here?

New England, Old England, doesn't matter. The iimportant thing is that Pleo is bringing people together with our common bond of PLEO love!
