As a nooob to the forum, I'm going to take a WAG and speculate that 1.2 will be released when it's ready, and not a nanosecond sooner. Mark your calendar!

As a general rule, a company that assigns a specific date to a specific software release/update is begging for failure. I am in that business, and it's very very hard to get stuff out at some time that is predicted beforehand.

Enjoy your Pleo 1.something for what it is. As much as I would like my Pleo to be able to recite poetry and discuss theoretical physics (oh, and find my slippers!), I am telling myself to be patient and take joy out of him doing his "ta-da!" thing. (Which I do, BTW :) . But I haven't sussed out the watchdog thing yet!)

Waxing philosophically for a moment, most people here are Early Adopters of advanced robotics tech - Pleo's price point and the fact that everyone here is willing to pony that up is evidence. Pleo is quite amazing in his 1.0 incarnation, and I say that as a tech toy addict with an engineering background :D.

In sum, let's be patient and see what the LifeOS masters come up with next!

i'm one of the oldest here and the first upgrade was available after 3-4 months of pleo's release. Mine was just a question, not a nervous comment about the Ugobe future plans :)

Hat tip to blave: indeed, we have no plans to announce a date before we have a finished product. This is standard software company practice. Heck, Apple doesn't even announce products until they're literally in the store windows!!

If you've been closely paying attention, you will observe that we always announce things here first in the Forums!

Do hope they can revive the much more natural motion as seens before the V1.1 update next to the Tug-of-war thing. That should be the number one priority!

I've never experienced this lack of natural motion in 1.1. Even the tug-of-war complaint is a weak one in my opinion.
Pleo still plays tug-of-war as much as he/she/it used to. You just have to learn how to coax them into it. Before the complaint was he plays too much and doesn't eat. Then 1.1 came out and the complaint was he eats too much and doesn't play.

I can get Morgan to play whenever I want her to. Every time. Scratch her back a couple times and the tail wags and she's a playing Pleo. 1.1 gave us a more realistic behavior instead of a random selection when it has something in its mouth.

That's my own observation with my Pleo. I personally hope they don't go back to the way it was before 1.1 And I don't think they will. It would be a step backwards for Pleos personality.

OK....Morgan moves in the same way, not seeing any difference in the "natural motion" you mentioned.

I can only imagine you're talking about the ease of which you engaged her in tug-of-war. Yes prior to 1.1 you had a 50-50 (or whatever) chance of Pleo either eating or playing.

My point was when I first updated I noticed that she wouldn't play like she used to. I wondered why, actually went "hmm" and started to see if I could find out how to make her play. Thats when I discovered if I scratch her back or shoulders or whatever she will get excited and play. That to me is more natural, scratching her back or tickling her feet and getting playful activity, then sticking something in her mouth and having a chance at her eating or playing.

But again you mentioned motion itself and your pleo prior to 1.1 moves and reacts like my pleo post 1.1

This is the most common "complaint" and it has been addressed to the team.

I'm happy about that. But I still think Pleo should be rather hungry. Sauropods, Prosauropods, and Mrachrochenians needed plenty to eat, otherwise they'd become sick. Also, Camarasaurus is a Sauropod. The Sauropods were the ones out of all the dinosaurs that ate the most.

It would be really nice to get an update soon. I'm still a little miffed that the "special 1yr anniversary gift" from Ugobe was discounted Pleos. I was really hoping for a nice update to reward our loyalty instead of a way to get more of my money.

Anyway I think the last update was April? That's 6 months ago.......So one could assume 1.2 will be a whopper yes?

This thread seems to be a place for speculation only as Ugobe (rightfully so) will only respond with "we'll let you know when we do" So lets speculate.

Here I'll light the gas......... I'll be surprised if we see a 1.2

I'm guessing in order to get the PDK working and have an OS that is more platform generic (Pleo as well as future life forms) we're looking at a 2.0 release, not a 1.2, and they'll "announce" the plan for the 2.0 in October, but we won't see it 'til next year . . .

I've given up refreshing the update page every day in my browser, been doing that since April.
I figure I'll check it next June and maybe....MAYBE I'll be surprised. Personally I think they've dropped the Pleo and are working
on the next life-form as far as development goes. Your best bet might be to learn how to program the suckers yourself.
Ugobe has been strangely silent since the last update. Well silent except for the company line of "it'll be out when it's out"

me four. it's been a loooooooooooooong time since the last update. i'm really hoping that it will be a bigger one with a lot of new content(1.2 maybe not a 1.1.2!). i wish pleo could see and hear. it would be great if it could do some tracking, (this would probably be too difficult to do with the current hardware), it would make all the difference in the world though if pleo could actually notice and track a persons movements. i'm certain that something like that won't come around until ugobe has a new life form out.

I Think more frustrating then the lack of updates is the lack of general information or support from Ugobe.

-No new OS update
-No PDK
-No announcement or information on what other life form is in the works
-No indication that they are working on fixing issues with the skin, neck or battery
-No information whatsoever


Pleo is Ugobe’s first product.. You would think they would be more supportive of the community that will prove to be the foundation of future successes. I know given the broken promises, lack of updates and plethora of issues the Pleo has I wont be so quick to buy whatever they offer next. I can understand if the software is not done or the move is causing delays. But some information would be nice.. A timeline for release, or hinting at some of the new features, etc. something lije a simple Ugobe blog to keep people updated would go a long way.

I have to say I'm disappointed too.
It seems that big companies can get away with saying there will be x this or x that in x month and then x month comes and nothing.
If I promise to do something and say when I'll do it - I do it ! If I can't I'll say why and keep people updated.
Maybe courtesy and keeping to your word means nothing in big business these days, so perhaps I shouldn't be disappointed.

to be honest the lack of general updates is a little worrying, i had/have high hopes for ugobe and pleo, i just hope they wont dissapere without a trace... theres a lot of people who love pleo, and theres a lot of us who are expeting more. either party im sure, would like some updates and feedback from ugobe.

a few days back i had a chat with one off the support team ref v1.0.2 which i asked him if he could give me the software. he told me he could as long as i signed a pleo updater software license agreement. which i did but the software has not been sent to me yet. i have sent a few emails to them but still no answer. i do not wont to get in contact with them again as this is starting to get out of hand, like i said i had to sign a software agreement for something that was available to all before. so could you pls check this out for me, i will be very grateful

I think raptorkill may have something here. Why don't we all "downgrade" to 1.0.2.....it will seem new and different since it's been so long since 1.1 came out.

THEN we can go back to 1.1 (because there sure won't be a 1.2 or 2.0) in a few months and it will all seem new and wonderful and the illusion that UGOBE really is continuing development and will release ongoing patches. We can repeat this process forever and pretend that it really is getting new personalities and abilities. We can also use Dino-Mite or something to disable a leg, make pleo fall over a lot. This would also be different and a way for us to keep the "updates are coming" illusion alive.

OK serious sarcasm off. Since the general feeling in the forums is that UGOBE has been more than just a little silent about updates, I think they really need to issue some sort of clear statement (other than, they're coming when they come) as to whether updates are being developed or not. i have no problem with the "when we know, you'll know" response to this but they've been using it for way too long now.

I doubt they will, I doubt UGOBE cares what we think since our money is in their pockets already. I'm very sad to say this because they sold the line about frequent updates very well. I hope I and others are proven wrong and we actually see some action. This is 7 months after 1.1, it's not like I'm jumping the gun here.

That would be a bad misscalculation.

Because some ppl (me, myself and I for example) planned to buy another Pleo (additional to the on i already own). But I changed this plan, since it seems that there is no or only little ongoing development of pleo.

If there had been the developments that have been promised, i would already own a second or even a third pleo.

I know Ugobe is in a very complicated situation with the move, but i have just one request - as every pleo owners here - is it possibile to resolve only the tug-of-war mode (maybe in december?) and bring it back to the original game (as in the vers. 1.0)?
I think i can wait for the update 2 or 4 months, it's not a problem, but i want to play really with my pleo and see it in his original "natural" state.

I totally understand Ugobe not wanting to give an estimation of when it will be released because there is too much room for error and for the date to get pushed back, which aggrivates many people...look at how Harry Potter was pushed back and how many fans were upset....but they'll still go. I know I will. But how about Ugobe having a weekly blog of the goings on at the lab. They don't have to reveal all their secrets, but giving us an update on things going smoothly or a set back would at least squelch any fears that the economic crisis is going to render our Pleo's extinct.
