I did a quick search to see if this was in other threads, so I apologise if this is in another thread!

Pleo can to a limited degree change direction by backing up as he uses the joint in his body to swivel. But I have only seen pleo turn while backing up. What if pleo could turn as he walked forwards too? So far pleo only turns while backing up then walks straight forwards until he sees an obstacle, then he stops, backs up turning, then walks straight forwards again. It would increase his turning ability if he could use the same tunring technique going forwards too? Also it would be great to add a little more randomness in his forwards walking if it included turning as he walks forwards occasionally. This would help in object avoidance and possible future OS upgrades whre he becomes more inquisitive, such as moving towrads dark or light areas. Also it would make pleo a little more lifelike if he turned while walking forwards. The hardware capability is there as he turns while going backwards already.
What does everyne else think and what do you think UGOBE?

I have not observed him turning while walking, but I have seen him turn while standing to change direction.

Of course many will say he doesn't walk straight anyway, he arcs to the right.

Sorry PLeowhisperer for not bieng specific enough. I emant that pleo only uses his turning ability when he backs up. I have never seen pleo turn his baod while standing then walk forwards in the turning mode - only doing it before moving backwards. I wonder if it is because of a conflict in his motors/gears system that prevents turning as he is walking, rather than turning at a standstill then walking in the turning stance?

As for waking in an arc - I must be once of the lucky ones - my pleo walks in a straight line no problem!! He regularly moves for six feet or more straight as an arrow!

Havoc, if a loud noise is made while he is walking, will stop, turn his head towards the noise, and walk turning towards the noise and then continue straight, in this way he can be directed through calling him either side of his head.

Pleo has a number of walking motions, including forward motions with a little turn.
(Pleo moves his neck in that direction when walking, but it is a very slow turn)

You can play with these using YAPT (and eventually the PDK)
Under YAPT, look in the Motion Library for motions starting with "com_walk". Repeat the walk motion several times in a row.
"bl" = back left, "fr" = front right etc "fs" = front straight

This is what I have seen. But that's not turning in mid-walk. It's stop, turn, walk in new direction.

Peeky's right back leg is a little off sync. Once in a while it causes him to walk in a big circle. We were at my dad's apartment the other day and my dad asked if Peeky comes when I call him. I know he doesn't, but as soon as I called out his name he started turning around towards me. My dad was very impressed!;)

MIne has a bit of a right turn too. wonder if its just one of his legs not functioning quite as well as the other legs?

Olympia just goes wherever she wants to. She sometimes turns left, sometimes right, sometimes corkscrew or zigzag, but usually forward.
