Hello fellow Pleo owners.

I thought this was kind of a curiosity.

Meet Dead Fred. Unlike other Pleos Dead Fred doesn’t get into much trouble.. In fact he doesn’t do anything, because he’s dead

He’s actually a display model “dummy” Pleo that I purchased for 25$ from a sharper Image store that was closing down. He’s basically just a shell. Lacking cameras or likely any other expensive parts (although he did have a fully working Battery, why my real Pleo Dopey will enjoy)

But now the question is. What do I do with him. He’s not much of a playmate for Dopey, and while he does seem to have all the motors and internal parts. He’d probably not be very good for parts.

So what would you do with a “dead” Pleo

Poor Dopey just doesn't understand

That's bound to be a collector's item someday, if it's not just a broken Pleo they put on display ;)

I would definitely hold onto it and use it just for display or staged photos with Dopey!

I would do the same. Dead Fred Could always be a model.
The one question I would like to know is why Sharper Image didn't seem to want to show Pleo in action. This was the same case at my local store. No one seemed to know anything about what Pleo could do They had never put a battery in one.
The last time I checked with that store ( and it is one that is closing) they finally had a Pleo up and running.

You could create a display of your own with a Jurrasic Park theme. Would be cool.

I'd love to get my hands on a dead pleo or two to use, as fancyfont said,as a model for posing shots. With a dead pleo I wouldn't worry about "breaking" him when I posed and positioned him:;)

A dead pleo also makes a great office decoration. He would be one pleo you could stick in your garden . . .

Fred definitely isn’t just a broken Pleo. Other then having no cameras or foot sensors (the buttons are there but there’s no resistance, they are loose) He’s in extremely good shape. I’d actually prefer if it was just a broken unit. As it would be fun to try and resurrect him. Don’t ask me why a non-working Pleo would come with a battery.

Its funny because I went to that Sharper Image store with intension to buy there working floor model (as well as a gift for someone else) Which I knew would be at least 50% off, and I could probably bargain even lower. But someone else had got to it first. It makes me wonder how the warranty would apply to these Pleos

How about using Fred as a stunt-double in your videos?

i think you're lucky!;) if your Dopey gets and incident or tear on the skin, you can use Fred for skin-donor;)

Hmm - like the others have suggested, use Dead Fred as amodel in photos and stuff. If you get really curious you could alwys take him to bits and find more out about the insides of pleo.

Fancyfont - most shops probably dont use moving pleos in their displays because of the battery charge/life issue. Pleo would only work for about an hour and then have to go on charge for four - that means he would probably only be working once or twice during the shops opening hours.
