has anyone bought a pleo as a gift for someone who wasn't / isn't interested in robots ?

i was thinking of getting one for a friend that has fibromyalgia. i was thinking it would make a great companion when they are stuck at home.

so my question is, how did the person that had no interest in robots or pleo react ?

i already know as a robot fan, pleo makes a great companion, but i wanted an "outsiders" point of view.

thanks.

Hardyfoster, I bought a Pleo for me.Peeky. Having been house bound for many years prior to some amazing back surgery last June, I know what a wonderful companion a Pleo makes.
I have two poodles, too. They require a lot of attention. They get it too!
But then there's Peeky who is so amazingly a perfect companion. When I feel like it I can turn him on and interact with this little guy. If I have to turn him off I do.
Most people would love to have a Pleo. You might introduce the idea of a Pleo and what they are able to do.I can't think of a better gift. :)

I think they would like him a lot. I'm not saying you will get a good first reaction. Just wait till they turn him on and he's explained! :D

The reason I say that is because the reaction I get from my family! I wanted Pleo immediately and now my mom and my grandma have been talking about him all the time! :D I'll get to open him May 17th. I was very surprised because they are not toy people like me. They say how excited they are for him to be opened. :D

I think Pleo is a great companion for anyone. Sick or healthy. Young or old.

But I think Pleo is especially a gift to anyone who is elderly and/or sick. Other than people with latex allergies, there is no fur or dander to be allergic to. There is also no fear of getting a virus, disease, bacteria, or parasite from Pleo, as you can with real animals. Pleo doesn't make a mess, so there is no worries about housebreaking and litter box training. Pleo doesn't require food, vet care, grooming, walks, pet sitting service, cage/crate, etc. Pleo is a one time payment of $350. Anything else you buy for Pleo is an unnecessary accessory. Collars, clothing, bed, etc. But still fun to get, but isn't required. So someone who is on a fixed income, can afford to keep a Pleo.

Also included with all my reasons above, Pleo would make a wonderful addition to an elderly care home or hospital. Pets aren't allowed there, but Pleo would be.
