First off, it's great to see that extra batteries are available! :D Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The FAQ missed a few questions, though . . .

Are the extra batteries the same NiMH as before? I assume so, but I thought I should verify.

Will the LiPoly battery and egg base charger ever be made available? :confused:

Nice News! :)

At least for the US citizens...


Due to regulatory constraints and shipping complications, batteries are only available to ship in the US at the moment.

YAY!! I just found out a few minutes ago:)..!! YAY:D they are a bit exspencive. but It'd be nice to have Rockuy around longer:)

I like the fact that the email suggests this is a good time to but a second pleo. :p Ha! I would love to get a second, but I'm still waiting for them to fix some of the problems.

Anyway, get yours quick! I'm sure this first batch will go fast.

The batteries that we are shipping are identical to the NiMH batteries that came with Pleo. We have no plans to ship any other sort of battery.

Now about that egg base charger. I am actually dying to know what you're talking about! I think you may have spotted a prototype charger at some point. We are not planning to produce alternate charging cradles at this time.

Well, apparently you guys are selling them as we speak. Assuming, that is, that we speak chinese. That, and based on the conversion rate, these LiPloy batteries are about $3 cheaper than the NiMH

Well....this thing looks a lot like a 3D-Model. Maybe its a rip-off UGOBE doesnt even know about?

To be clear, ucube is not UGOBE, but rather, a Taiwanese business partner of ours.

No disrespect intended. Didn't mean to sound accusing. I know sometimes international companies have to set up child/partner corporations in other countries in order to do facilitate business. Wasn't sure how closely Ucube was tied to Ugobe. But since Ucube seems to be doing independent development, I would hope that Ugobe could leverage off of the work being done by their business partners . . . ;) I'm sure Ugobe would find a ready market for Ucube's products. :D

So I send Ugobe an email appealing to purchase a battery from them and this is their response:-

Here is the suggested answer/solution to your Support Inquiry:

I have reviewed your request for addtional batteries. Yes, we have released batteries. Unfortunately at this time, they are only available in the US.

I do understand that you may have purchased the Pleo in the US. We do have distributors across the globe and we are steadily working to have more locations for others to purchase Pleo. At this time, we cannot ship batteries from the US to other countries. We are hoping to soon to have these batteries available for purchase by all our consumers. It wont matter the location of the person.

So it seems my Pleo and I are left out in the cold :( and with only one hour of playtime while I wait for 4.5 hours to recharge look like eBay is the best alternative. I'm deeply disappointed.

Anyone want to buy a Pleo?

AHHHHHH! :D:D:D I was so excited I just ordered one! I've been saving my money but I had to get this before my birthday! My mom says she will charge both for my bday! :D I can't wait to introduce Pleo to everyone! ;)

i dont like the egg recharger... i love more the green standard recharger! I think i'll get one like the egg shaped if they colour the design with green. The design looks more like a toy :(

Please be patient. It's not that they are refusing to sell you one personally it's just that at the moment they are only available in the U.S.

Hi all,

Just an FYI: we have just lifted the "1 per purchase" restriction on battery sales on Pleoworld.com. We are actively getting batteries to our international distributors, so I will have news on that front to come.

There are no distributors in Australia, If there were would I have not purchased my Pleo from them in the first place? :confused: The reason why I'm disheartened by this battery fiasco is because I emailed Ugobe when I bought my Pleo to ask about spare batteries and they emailed me back to say batteries will be available for purchase by May/June. At no point did they say I wouldn't be able to buy one because I live in Australia until they announced their availability. When I asked after the announcement Ugobe's reply to me was "We do not ship outside of the U.S.... is their anything else we can help you with?"
