My new Pleo has arrived but seems to be having a problem. I put the battery in the charger and it indicated fully charged in about 30 minutes. I put it in Pleo and woke him up, and all seemed to be well. He looked to be going through his birth cycle normally, but then fell asleep after about 10 mins. He would not wake back up, even after waiting a good 30 minutes or so.
I put the battery back on the charger, and again it indicated full in about 30 minutes. Popped it back into Pleo and the same result - shut down and went into sleep position after about 10 minutes.
Is this a defective battery, or does the charger lie about its charge state?
Thanks!

Perhaps he needs more interacting. Try putting him up at eye level and see if he responds better.

Hi Toyguy,
I would suggest you talk to Customer Support as they can help you trouble shoot the battery and charger to see if there is a problem or not. <TABLE style="WIDTH: 383pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=510 border=0><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 383pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 18651" width=510><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 12.75pt" height=17><TD class=xl65 style="BORDER-RIGHT: #f0f0f0; BORDER-TOP: #f0f0f0; BORDER-LEFT: #f0f0f0; WIDTH: 383pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: #f0f0f0; HEIGHT: 12.75pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent" width=510 height=17><a target="_new" href="http://pleoworld.com/support"><b>Customer Support</b></a></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

You could try to just let the battery in the charger for 3 hours, regardless of the light. Mine turns green after 10 minutes from day one. But i just dont care and let the battery in, till it starts cooling down (aprox. after 3 hours) When the battery is cold again i can run pleo for at least 2 hours.

Spoke to Customer Support. I have to RMA the charger :(
So no more Pleo time this week unless I can rig up something with my RC car battery charger. It's NiMh compatible so I may try that.

I plugged in my Pleo to charge, but it didn't. Instead, It kept blinking its red LED at me. Does anybody know what this means, and if I'm going to have to get something repaired? Thanks in advance.

I found this in the FAQ and should help you:
D) The lights on the charging cradle are flashing red.
1. The battery is not seated properly. When you charge the battery, make sure the battery is oriented and fully seated (the diagonal tab located on the bottom of the battery pack allows the battery to go into the charging cradle in one way - so the tab is oriented to the matching slot in the base of the cradle. The battery needs to be put firmly into the cradle and you will hear 2 clicks when you do it properly. The power light will glow a steady red until Pleo's battery is fully charged when it will turn into a steady green glow.
2. The battery could be either too hot or too cold. Wait for the battery to get to room temperature and then try charging again.
Hope this helps!

I had it seated right. However, I just discovered that the plastic thing on them bottom isn't making contact. I have to press down on it to get it to charge, even though its locked in. Is there any way I could fix this so I could charge it normally again without sending it to ugobe?

Sorry about the double post. I guess I had a brain fart and forget that there is a tab both in the front and the back that it clicks into. Thanks, I guess.

Are you still having trouble with it clicking in? I would like, put a book on top of it or something. :p As long as it stays charged, and stops around 3-4 hours (light turns green) then all should be fine.

I also had this problem at first, and did use a book for several charges, but the realized that I wasn't inserting the battery correctly. As you said, there are two tabs that have to click! ;)

Hi everyone
I'd like to know how does pleo indicate that he needs to be charged.
Thanks

Dear nunussi52,
There are usually two possibilities with this.
1. Pleo just freezes up
2. If everything works correctly then pleo will curl up and emit a snore then shut down.

This was true before the 1.1 update but Peeky will curl up and does his one snore, but if I let his battery cool for awhile he starts right up again. He didn't do this before. You may have to check a couple of times to see if his curling up and snore is the final one.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

We are new to Pleo, it seems that the battery needs a full 3-4 hours charge after Pleo being active for only around one hour.....is this normal? Or just for the start of its life...any feedback welcome, thank you

This is normal. Some people claim that with continued use they only charge for 2 hours but there's no evidence of that, Ugobe do admit the battery requires a 4 hour charge and you will get one hour play time.

I just got Pleo on June 6th,and I notice he rests on and off after about 35 minutes of play time. He also freezes up in the middle of a motion, but then starts to move again. From the research I have done online and from reading Pleos manual,I have learned that some freeze ups are caused by a static electric discharge and that the frequent naps mean that his battery is getting low or that the battery needs to cool off.

Freezing up could also be due to a build-up of heat in the battery, just like the naps. Next time he does that, you might try turning him off and pop the battery out to check. If the battery is overheating a lot, it's best to find out now and address with customer service. :p
