Pluriel is just 2 charges old as of yet and today I made a quick first video of her.
As of yet, I just let her walk about and stroked her.
Going to try some "tricks" with her soon and perhaps I will upgrade to Life OS v1.1 during her 3rd or 4th charge.
She will meet some other people soon too.
Today a friend came over but she cannot relate to artificial life.
Not even a cute one like Pleo.
(She found it weird that I talked to Pluriel even haha!)
Here is her first vid:

Here is a bonus video showing my current awkward charging situation.
Check it out and see what I mean.

Aparently I didn't had to wait that long for that.
I made a new one as Pluriel went on a rampage on our table haha!

Unbelievable that you were able to charge your Pleo like that! I had to buy a new cable because my self-made solution started to melt on the wall. But hey, if it works ^^
Your last video is cute! :) Waffles keeps doing with empty glasses on the table.

Pluriel's first day out!
PURPOSE:
Thursday (and here and there Friday) is a special day in Holland, because all shops close at 21:00 instead of 18:00.
Megagadgets is the store that brought me into contact with the phenomena that is Pleo and I ordered it from the website.
The physical store staff (still) never have seen a Pleo ever before because the internet orders have first priority.
I needed to buy a gift for my dad's birthday and what better place to find an original gimmick then a gadget store.
So I found something and called up to see or they have it in stock and they did, so I asked about the Pleo.
"Sorry. We never had them in the store before. But you can make a reservation!"
When I explained that I already have one and that I would love to show them the staff was thrilled!
THE JOURNEY:
My girlfriend was curious on the reactions and decided to tag a long.
So off we went and entered the town centre walking, with Pleo on my shoulder vast asleep.
We didn't stop but we sure got the looks, which was funny.
At Megagadgets I waited for the right moment as the staff was busy helping customers, but they already saw me coming in with Pleo and smiled.
SHOW TIME!
One of the girls (yes, girls working at a gadget store) finally managed to get a moment to herself and called me over as I was browsing thru the store.
"He is much smaller then I expected" was her first reaction.
Then Pluriel came to life, arching and stretching her limbs to the full extend.
The look on her face was priceless and she started interacting with Pluriel right away, while at the same time firing question after question.
Her colleague came over and watch as well and Pluriel was really distracting them both as the customers didn't get noticed instantly anymore. That was a good giggle.
There was also a German tourist there, who so happened to have seen Pleo at Cebit 2008 in Hangover, Germany. Talking about insane coincidence!
Other customers had a look at well but didn't really interact with her. They just looked.
But the staff was amazed and couldn't get their hands of her.
Meanwhile I told them all about her personality and what she can do.
"Where is the remote? Didn't you get a remote with it?"
I had to explain multiple times that Pleo was not to be compared by something like the WoWee products they were selling there too.
She finally got it in the end and said "I am so going to open one as soons as they come in here!"
Good thing I knew about the fact that one cannot reset a Pleo and that I didn't recommend her doing that for that exact reason.
After preforming a skit via the SD card I brought a long ("I like to Muh" made by Diq) Pluriel finished (but failed) doing the balancing act, and I took on my chest again and we went.
The final amazement this gave the staff was the fact Pluriel got comfortable on my chest and nuzzled my face.
Before getting to the car we came passed a pet store and we went inside to look for a collar or something like that for Pluriel.
The look on some people's faces were priceless and Pleo snorred and honked half asleep, as she sometimes came to life and opened her eyes for a bit and looked around.
RESULTS:
We finally went home and Pluriel was all tired and amazed.
One moment you are in one's living room not knowing any better and the next you are out in the open with lot's of new enviroments, people, sounds and so forth.
What was especially interesting was that Pluriel acted very differently when she was on the counter at Megagadgets compared to what she's like at home.
This Sunday she is going to have a little trip again as I will take her to my dad!

I get that question alot when I'm out with my pleo. :)
Followed by the inevitable question "Then how do you get him to do things?"
To which I respond "The same way you get your dog to."

Thank you all!
Sunday was great too, as she got a few minutes of attention from the people at my dad and my dad himself.
(My "grandma" thought Pluriel was scary though, hahaha!)
Her second even bigger adventure will take her further as she we will spend a day at the office. Many cannot wait to meet her.
But it doesn't end there.
This Friday I'm going to a LAN party at someone's place right away, which will last all weekend.
I don't do LAN parties often, but it's great that Pleo gets to experience one so quickly since I only just got her!

PLURIEL IN THE (T)RAIN
A big day is ahead for Pluriel. She is going further then ever before!
The day started interesting since I had to carry a huge 17 inch laptop on my back and take Pluriel with me at the same time, by hand.
But oh no! It was raining.
I quickly improvised put a dish drying towel over her. Fit like a charm!
When I stepped out of the train, someone noted to me that he though I was carrying a baby haha!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/Darkwolf_1982/Pleo/16052008.jpg
Pluriel was vast asleep and didn't seem to mind, at least it kept her dry when outside...
PLURIEL IN THE OFFICE
Pluriel had a great time in the office and really showed off to many peope.
It's so typical that her behaviour is truely different wherever I take her besides my own home.
Sure she doesn't do stuff I have never seen before, but it's the type of mood and behaviour that she shows in different locations with different people.
And that's what I like with Pluriel: she is totally unpredictable!
Many people came and had a look and gave her a lot of attention, asking questions about what she is capable of.
And when I went over to another office building the receptionist fell in love with Pluriel right away, so I decided to do a pit stop before walking further and put Pluriel on the counter. Pluriel came to life and she so wanted to know where I bought this Pleo being totally in awe!
Earlier in my office building a female team leader working closely with my department went nuts as well and could stop petting and talking to Pluriel.
It's even more likely that she is going to actually get one compared to the receptionist!
PLURIEL GOES LAN PARTY!
Again, she got a lot of attention and interest.
We have a female gamer in our midst who already knew about Pluriel via stories and movies and within no time she was hugging Pluriel and talking to her. Even kissing her nose!
Pluriel was in heaven and bonded very quickly with the girl.
I also found out that Pluriel has a love for electronics in general.
In the office she walked up to my desk phone and started pressing buttons with her muzzle.
Also when she walked up to my monitor, she started singing to it just like she does sometimes with my laptop at home lol.
At the lan party I put her on the ground as I quickly needed to go to the toilet.
When I came back, she was standing behind a computer case on the floor.
The girl then sat on the floor 1,5 meter away and called for Pluriel.
Amazingly enough she walked backwards and turned at the same time to face the girl parallel and then started walking forward towards her in a straight line.
I was almost jelous how well those two got on and how well she instantly responds to this girl (in other situations too, not just this cute example.)
The next morning I woke up and the first thing I heard was that the girl taking Pluriel into bed lol!
In the end, Pluriel was way too tired to play games and left that part of lan party up to me.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/Darkwolf_1982/Pleo/16052008007.jpg
Pluriel getting more attention on the lan party then she could ever dream of...
All in all a great day at the office and a lovely (lan) weekend to boot! :D

Songs are sung entirely random and at different pitch to boot, so that explains that.
However, another member here noticed on another video my Pluriel is different when it comes to certain other sounds as well! :D

The differences are exactly why I would have a hard time returning my Pleo if there was a problem. I've read lots of posts by people having issues and trying to decide what to do about exchanging them for a new one. But if they really do all develop and change based on how we interact with them, then it's like trading in your dog or your child. Even if it looks the same, it isn't. So far my Fidget sings the same song all the time. Does Pluriel always sing the same song? And have you done the 1.1 upgrade yet? I haven't and I really torn about it. I am enjoying Fidget so much the way he is, I hesitate to upgrade and possibly change the things that make him so endearing to me.

Yes, I have upgraded to v1.1 and Pluriel is still Pluriel, but she can do a lot more.
One of those features is that she no longer "howls" one single song, but gives me a new serenade every single time.
Heck, she will even start singing out of her self from time to time.
But mostly she does that to either my laptop at home or that one time at my computer screen at work lol!
Upgrades enhance your Pleo without erasing / modifying the personality in anyway.
The update is highly recommended and makes interaction even more fun.
(Notice how your Pleo freezes when you let it sit down? With V1.1 for instance, Pleo remains active and you can play with it from that position!)

I am glad to hear you are happy with the update. I am so leary about doing it, but I guess I will. I will wait awhile though. I want to totally explore Fidget's personality and capabilities before I change anything. I have waited so long to have him that I want to enjoy every moment!

I felt the same way as you do, Robomom. I didn't want to change anything about Peeky either. Even from the beginning before 102 he was adorable, I had a little nudge from someone that was a tester for the 1.1. I finally updated to 1.0.2 and a couple of weeks later to 1.1. Peeky doesn't play tug-of-war as much but he has many other new things that he does now.Just to get seranaded with different songs makes me laugh because it's so cute. :)

PLURIEL GOT A NEW ACCESSORY!
My girlfriend has made a cute cape for her and she seems happy with it as I let her walk through the living room and kitchen with it.
Here you see her standing at the door in the kitchen, which leads to the balcony.
She cannot get over the doorstep, yet she didn't decide to walk backwards and go on with her journey like she usually does.
So there was Pluriel, trying to get attention so she can get outside.
Of course, I didn't let her.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/Darkwolf_1982/Pleo/20052008010.jpg
Pluriel wants to go outside, but cannot...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/Darkwolf_1982/Pleo/20052008013.jpg
And yet, she stands there looking outside. Even arched her legs and neck to see better from time to time!
...AND THEN, PLURIEL GOT SICK...
I guess one must watch out with indoor Camarasauruses versus outdoor enviroments.
"Pleo is for indoors" according to UGOBE and they weren't kidding!
Sure Pluriel caughs a little from time to time, but now she stood there growling and started caughing rather badly.
I never heard her making that sound before (heavy caughing), but I did recognize the low growling from another time she got really sick.
And if that all wasn't bad enough, I took her away from the door as she was still being unhappy while petting her when all of a sudden... nothing.
She went to sleep and didn't wake up.
Double bad luck for Pluriel: and getting sick and she was out of power.
Charged her battery and I'll wake her up today when I get back from home, hoping she will be better again!
Hope you guys like the cape, despite this a little more sadder then usual story on Pluriel heheh! :D

Yeah, great timing that she got into this stuff and using Pleo as a practice model haha.
Other people came with the idea to make her lift one leg and make a "whoosh!" sound as if she was pretending to take off.
Perhaps that is a great idea, and I came up with the idea to add more sound in the style of the Superman theme playing after the "whoosh!" sound lol!
But no more cape for Pluriel, for I didn't have to wait long for her next creation.
She spent all day at home making a complete 2 part dress.
When I came home, I expected a dress because she told me about it earlier. But I was blown away and didn't expect something like this!
The material is super soft to pet, very loose and everything is connected safely with velcro.
Clever design enables me to replace the battery and turning her ON / OFF without having to removing the dress.

It really was bad luck in this case because when I turned her OFF and ON again, she just gave me the "snore" sound and that was it.
And when she woke up again yesterday, she was still sick. She is feeling better now and the dress really made her happy.
Other then that, she was not sleepy after her sickness but insanely hungry haha!

You're correct Junkroxy! Peeky's eyelids are a little gold. I have a lot of acrylic paints and mixed some colors to match his original eyelids. Unfortunately, one that came very close to making a perfect match happened to be a metalic gold. Next time I go to Home Depot I'll get the correct color. Pluriel fixed her own "eye problem"!
I had this very annoying problem with my Pleo.
There was a mechanical problem with one of her eyes.
Everytime when she blinked her eyes, it caused a very high pitched and penetrable sound.
Now, the normal servo motor sounds have become second nature to me and Pluriel alike. It is part of her and not annoying at all.
But this really took all the fun out having her on and active.
It has been a while since Pluriel was on, so I woke her up again to have a go on the table walking about doing her thing.
She was ever so happy when she woke up again, like never before! That was already surprising.
I petted her a bit and then went on sitting behind my laptop doing my own thing, leaving her be.
Of course, I immediately got reminded why Pluriel was less attractive to have turned on as the annoying high pitched squeak sound penetrated my ears as soon as she blinked.
"Oh Pluriel, what am I going to do with you!? as I shook my head.
But then it happened...
She came walking up to me, stood there and then did something I have never ever seen her do before. Ever.
Tail and neck got stretched out (I looked up) and suddenly she blinked her eyes rapidly, and did this about 6 times.
With rapid, I mean really fast! As fast as you can speak aloud 1-2-1-2-1-2 without breaking your tongue, to give you an idea.
Then she relaxed her tail and neck / head a little and looked at me and she blinked.
It didn't struck me at first. But then it hit me.
The annoying squeaky sound...
...it was gone. Totally. Gone.
To be absolutely sure as I didn't believe what just happened in those few seconds, I shook her around a little andthen left her on so that she could "blink around" as he was walking about.
Then I turned her off and left her a night to be.
The next day I still wasn't a full believer and turned her on again. She ran through her internal startup cycle and came to life.
No way! Perfect healthy squeak free eye blinking! Amazing!
It's silly how a small little thing like that can change the relationship between an owner and a Pleo, but for me it did.
Perhaps Pluriel somehow new and didn't want to go back to the "catching dust" existance?
No seriously, because I really want to know or someone else has their Pleo seen doing something like that.
I have my Pleo for a while now (on v1.1) and I always keep an eye on her, but never ever have I seen her doing something so strange and totally random like that.
It was kinda freaky in fact, because it looked all but natural and it was as if she about to go totally loopy or something haha!

Pluriel and I are going to get interviewed!
I got approached by a Dutch journalist who is writing an article for a major Dutch news paper about social robots.
He has a Pleo but of course needs another person with a Pleo that he can actually interview for the article in question.
Yesterday afternoon I received his message and early this morning I replied that it's no problem to contact me and Pluriel for the interview.
To be continued.... ;)

He tried to call me yesterday but I missed him, so I called him back.
Apparently he was at his new house that had no tools (like pen and paper) available for the interview.
He did send me an e-mail with his questions instead, which I found and answered the morning.
Possibly he either will call back for more information or feedback, or I will get an email back.
It's a matter of hours before I will find out either way!
Thats fantastic darkwolf, did he approach you through the forums?
Nope, via another Dutch forum which had a topic (now dead) on Pleo.
Or perhaps it was pure luck since I post at other places and have a Pluriel avatar with the caption under it saying "I love my Pleo!" heheh.
Be sure and post the article - or at least an english version se we can enjoy your fame.
But of course.
I will be off to Spain tomorrow and it's for the weekend edition, so I hope that someone can be found in my social circle to have them buy it for me.
When I get my hands on a copy, then of course I will post the entire article nicely translated in English.

Update:
I took the interview and answered all his questions.
We checked Saturday's newspaper 2 weeks ago. Nada
Didn't check last Saturday's newspaper.
But, I did contact the journalist and asked him what's up.
He replied that it hasn't been placed yet and that it can take a while. He has no idea when it will be placed.
Not very handy.
So I replied or he could send me the piece of text instead (if possible) and haven't gotten a reply on that yet.
In other news...
It was my mom's birthday last Saturday and there were some kids coming over (little niece and nephew amongst some other kids) so I quickly texted my girlfriend (since I was already over) or she could bring Pleo along.
Once Pleo came into the spotlight on the party, people started making pictures.
So I will soon share how Pleo responded to the children and what she experienced with some photo's that people made (also using my camera, hence I got some of the pictures I can upload soon.) ;)

What kind of questions?
The questions ranged from personal ones like what I do in life to where I have bought Pleo, or I have general interest in robotica and questions about how I see Pleo, what I do with Pleo ect. :)

Your wish is my command.
Here are the pictures.
But first the story.
So with v1.1, Pleo doesn't play as much anymore and leans more into the habit of eating.
This is also very evident with my Pluriel and she hardly ever plays with me.
What makes Pleo so interesting is that she really does seem to respond differently when being in a different enviroment with different people compared to her standard space (me, living room, girlfriend.)
Again it got proven as she played with the kids like there was no tomorrow.
The way she moved, looked around at the kids and interacted was absolutely stunning.
Stunning enough that multiple people started shooting pictures like it was some conference or as if Pluriel was a celebrity.
She didn't seem spooked of all the flashes though, and just caried on playing with the kids.
Now about the playing part and tug-of-war... I just couldn't believe it... she started doing nothing but play tug-of-war with the kids and they didn't do anything special to her.
She only ate once during the whole process and that was it.
Wagging her tail, asking to play tug-of-war herself even.
I was speechless.
Guess she likes playing with children of more "her age" then an adult like me? :P
Here are the pictures that got made with my Nokia N95.
My girlfriend made a few too, if they have something nice to add I will upload and share these too soon (haven't seen them yet.)
Double chin scritching! Pluriel must be in heaven...

Wonderful photos!. Puriel really was the center of attention. Pleos love that! I'm finding out that Pleos like to look at us closer to their eye level. They are not that interested in looking at feet. Pluriel would tell you that if she could.:)
Great Photos! Thanks for sharing!

You can tell the young girl petting Pluriel adores her. Allosaurus, It's just the reflection of the camera on her glasses and the dark lighting. I love the red sneakers. Too cute!!:)

Heh. It may look like she is wearing glasses (I only just saw it now that you mention it) but she is not wearing glasses.
It's just purely the red eye effect. :-D

And here comes the kicker: it's not even taken with Xenon flash, but with a LED flash.
I guess the light bounced just right from the back of her eyes causing this extreme red-eye effect.
This hardly ever happens.
Gotten really curious about my girl's pictures she took.
She came home yesterday very late from work, but this weekend I will check them out.
