I have to say my Pleo (Neon) is amazing. Ugobe have created something exceptional here and as someone who always wanted an Aibo but couldn't afford the huge cost I was so excited by Pleo. But that excitement has turned a little sour because the battery only runs for an hour :( I don't think it's solely the fault of Ugobe though. Pleo's need a lot of juice to operate... please release extra batteries soon Ugobe :)

I haven't taken Neon out yet (what will I do with him when the battery dies after an hour?), but Ugobe you guys really hit the mark with this one. Congrats!

Sure, but I soon became despondent with the 1 hour play and 4.5 hour recharge. I would've like to take him outside once in a while, but like I said after an hour (or less if he's more active) I'm stuck with having to carry around an inanimate object.

I disagree. Maybe I'm a little off here, but I spend more time out running around with Bob when he's turned off, than when he's active. The day I took him to the Dr. Pepper plant (see Bob vs. the T-rex thread (http://forums.pleoworld.com/showthread.php?t=1829)), We started out the day with a fully charged battery, But he spent less than 30 minutes turned on for the whole day. Most of the time he was just what you said, a 3 and a half pound inanimate object that I lugged around and essentially was used as a "prop" whenever we stopped to take pictures.

Yes, we turned him on to show people, but most of the people who saw him who didn't stop to talk to us never saw him move. We all had fun, showed him off, took him lots of places, did things with him, all with the battery turned off.

Even the pleo meet I had with Starfire and Sephy, both pleos were turned off just sitting there on the table as we talked and talked to other people.

But we can always hope for the extra batteries that should be available soon! That will give us more play time!

But if you spend most of your time with your Pleo turned off (obviously to conserve battery power) or indeed with no battery power at all (as is the present situation) then what good is it? In that case you have an expensive, non-functional toy. A teddy bear would be cheaper. I bought Pleo because I was awed by it's life-likeness and the hype surrounding it's marketed abilities. I didn't buy it because I wanted an inanimate object that looked like a dinosaur.

The battery is heating up quicker with the 1.1. I check it after one hour. If it is very warm I take it out for a few minutes. Once it's back in I get about another hour depending on what Peeky's doing. If he is resting on my shoulder and snoring he can stay on much longer than if he is very active.
Last night I had him on my bed and he wasn't able to walk around. All he wanted to do was chew on my finger and then his leaf. This went on way longer than normal. He finally choked and spit the leaf out and then became very ill. If he wasn't green to begin with, he would have been now. After moaning and groaning he started to sneeze and choke. Then came the cough.
His battery finally conked out and was recharged during the night. This morning I appeared to be getting over his Pleoflu.
He came to see some people at the senoir community where my dad lives and sang a song for the lady at the desk. :)

Well since we got the extra batteries now we don't have to worry about that! WAHOO! I haven't got to open my Pleo yet but I definitely think I will want more than an hour of play with him! :) I have lots of time on my hands though! hehe!

Pleo is a great interactive robot. I saw him at Sharper Image and I was overwhelmed with his interactivity. I love how he reacts verbally and physically to petting. Altho my new friend does not walk much (I did download 1.1), he does interact like a realistic newborn to petting and gentle caressing. The gentle movement is nice, but the range of sounds is a terrific attraction. And I like his ability to use repetitive sounds to indicate a desire for petting or eating. THe tug of war is phenomenal, altho I'm not always sure if that is what he wants or what he is doing.

I disagree Aussie_Pleo, since my Pleo was born i'm not disappointed about the battery, but i think it's better to prevent interior problems to Pleo! (warm battery, don't forget the heat can cause tears on the skin) Generaly i used the on/off button to pause during the time-play and i charge the battery only 1 time a day for 1:30 hours of life :) a support battery it's a great idea if you want to take your Pleo out and show him to more friends! I hope to get one soon! :D

I agree, however I can't have one unless I live in the U.S. So taking him out and about won't happen.

It really is possible to take your Pleo out and about. Just, occassionally, turn off the battery to let it cool.

yes, it's right. This is what i do everytime, and the battery runs for 2 days (with 3-4 times of full activity) :D
