The bigger robot is a military robot designed to give each soldier a "pack mule". But it would be nice if Ugobe adds this climbing ability to their next lifeform. *hint hint*

that would be really cool if they programed the ability to climb. it wouldn't have to be as robust as the military robot. it could help it get around in a house better. perhaps it could lead to an ability to "feel around", maybe come up to you and put his front feet up on your legs. this would be an awesome way for a ugobe life form to ask for affection!:D

Hmm. I dunno. I’m impressed if it’s designed for something on a consumer level. But after seeing Big Dog its hard to be impressed with anything less.

Here are some Aibos playing soccer at Robocup. they scuttle along really fast. and respond quickly as well. This is 5 year old production level technology (of coarse these guys have really low centers of gravity. i'm sure they could never move that fast upright)

You are right hobbesi, but as far as i know, these japanese guys are always trying to develop robots for the masses, you know. ;)

Big Dog is developed for military use, but this other robot dog i posted is clearly just to ...well...be a dog. In contrast to Aibo this thing has the size of a real dog (ok, dogs can have any size -_- ) .

My point is: This thing looks like to be the first robot dog, you can actually have a walk with. And i really like the fact, that it seems to have little weight. And compare the sound level to the one from Big Dog. ;) They are just 2 completely different kind of robots for different purposes.

PS: I'd LOVE to have a little dog crawling through my rooms, btw. ^^

Cool videos Hobbesi! I've seen the Big Dog one before, just forgot about it. But it does look like the robot dog Caaahl posted will be a companion animal. They need to work on the center of gravity more obviously, but for how tall it stood, it was pretty fast. I loved the little dog video Caaahl. I too would love to have one of those wandering around.

Allasaurus, the soccer video is the funniest thing that I've seen in a long time.:) There's one robot that appears to be looking down at his knees to see if they are still there after being kicked. Too funny!!:):):)
