I got my Pleo the day before Christmas in the UK and was so happy as it was the last one available in 2007.
After playing with him for a couple of months he has completely died.
I put the battery on the charger and it keeps going green after a few hours. Just to make sure I take it off and put it back on to further charge the battery.
I put the battery in him and all he does is let out 1 snore sound and then nothing.
I ask tech support what to do and they said take him back to swap him or get a refund. As I live in the UK i cant get a spare battery or charger so I have a useless toy I spent $500 on. With no way to get spare parts in the UK I have no choice but to get a refund and lose the pet I have been nurturing for 2 months. If I get a new one he will start off a baby again which will be very boring. He was just starting to get adventurous.
If anyone has any suggestion what I can do to save his life I will be very greatful, I think my vet might think im nuts if I take him down there.

If it is the battery and not the pleo, you could wait a while until the extra batteries are available. I did see in another post that there was a battery and charger for sale in the UK eBay....

First off take him back!
It does not mater that you have been 'nurturing your pleo' for 2 months!
IT CAN"T LEARN YET!
Don't some of you people get that?
SO many of you have posted how you don't want to send your pleo back because it will be different.
NO! It will not be different!
It will be the same!
EXACTLY THE SAME!
So many people on this board or seeing things that are not there. Your placing WAY to much emotion on a robot that resets every time you shut him off.
Oh and from hatching to its final stage is only like 3 days or 5 charges.
So yeah get another one.
Wow taoworm first off Pleo's don't restart after you turn it off then back on. Second buying a new one will get a whole different personality. Third and last if you spend that much time with Pleo he starts to become like a family to you, if you had a baby and have him for two months would you just throw the baby out? When he started to get a better personality, when he started to be more interesting? You may say its different but if you spend that much time and money with Pleo it's pretty much the same thing.
My pleo sometimes lets out only one snore. I wake him up by running my finger along his back and picking him up then down. It might be that the battery still works it's just Pleo doesn't want to get up ;) . Try downloading the new OS into him or putting an SD card with something into him he might respond and then you know he's just sleeping for a while.
Hope that helps. If it doesn't, if you have friends in the US or Canada, if they start selling spare batteries you could give your friend some money to buy it then send it to you.

Odin,
Ugobe said pleo can't learn yet, and OS is the same on all of them. So Taoworm23 is correct, they are all the same until Ugobe releases the OS with a learning capability.

I have found some differences in different pleos. some pleos even have different voices then mine!!

The programming is the same, but each one does develop differently. Even if Pleo isn't "learning" the internal state variables change differently, so they have different personalities. Each pleo is also hand painted, so there are subtle differences.

Again..no they don't.
The only wav file upgrade was this recent upgrade.
They ALL come from the factory stock parts, stock OS.
Some had different eye color, but thats about it.
I think there are 3 types of people on this board.
1.) The software /robotics type
2.) Average parent that bought one for there family or child.
3.) The doll people. (These are the same ones that put wigs and clothes on there pleos.)
Now the robotics crowd cannot get the logic of the 'doll people' on this board.
The 'doll' types go on and on about how there pleo is SO real and learns SO much.
The tech savvy folks read those post and scratch there heads.
"Surely they know they cannot learn yet right?" We think to ourselves. Yet not wanting to burst your bubble we don't post any negative comments. But when disinfo is being spread us tech savvy folks gotta bring the normal consumer down from cloud 9.
Fact: The OS is standard and at this time cannot 'learn' or adapt.
Fact: the stages are just that stages. They are time enabled and pre programed. All of them
Fact the pleo in your home right now (if working correctly) is exactly the same as mine in my home right now.
Doubt me? Ask UGOBE.
I am not pissed about this because they are working on the update. But I do not think misinformation is good thing either..
Just my 5 cents...

Because it is so late at night I'll put my (3) cents in. As you know I'm probably the least tech savvy person on the forum. Yes! I would be classified as the doll person. I love to dress Peeky up in shirts, coats, skates, whatever.
The fascinating thing here is that Pleo is to many people, different expectations.
I can see where a robotic engineer and those who love to explore the many capabilities of new inventions would totally see Pleos in a different way than I would or could.
I don't no what OS and AL and all of the things that make Pleo what he is. All I care about is the wonderful companionship that this little robot has been for me.
I hope to learn about all of the possibilities that are available. But For all of you tech savvy people, you might be better off with a Pleo without a skin covering. Seems like that would be more appealing then rubber.
Further more I believe they do come from the Manufacturer practically the same. Same parts. However, once the box is opened and we take our guys and gals out and work with them they do have little personalities that may be a little different from others.
Some of our members have two or three or more Pleos. They would be the ones to know if there's a difference in each of their Pleos.Roschler has three Pleos, Others have two or more. It would be nice to now their observance between their Pleos.
The fun part here on the forum is that we can all learn and share ideas. This make the forum a mighty fasinating place to be. Sorry for spelling errors and poor grammer.:o

Well said, you will get shoot down for your remarks. People hate reality and many live in cloud 9 with big imaginations as to what Pleo can do and not do. I also seen wild claims also from Furby owners who also claimed they where all differnet.
I see no learning ablities or changes in my Pleo other then when they bring out a new OS update, but that's it. Pleo does not evolve, the only evolving is when you first update the OS, which is different to the last one, but does not mean after the update he keeps evoling.
People imagine things that are not true, or see things that they want to and are totally unreal.
It's the doll people that claim wild things and see things that are not real but imagined.
There is nothing wrong with that, but no way am I like that. I love my Pleo, he is a machine and a robot, does not learn or evolve other than the OS system getting updates?
Do computer programs not also evolve? they have updates so are evoling all the time, by better programming, same as Pleo.
People are so confused as to the evolving thing. After the update Pleo does not continue to evolve, he will only evolve further with new updates.
All the doll people see things that are not real, and make such wild cliams and see the same thing here, just go to Furby forums and you will see that owners cliam all kinds of wild things and even claimed each was different even with different personailities.
I keep things in reality Pleo is a robot, he does not learn, does the same movments, yet is cute and lovable and will interact with your effection, but cannot compare to any real pet, afterall Pleo is just a machine and not locked into cloud 9 and seeing things that are not real. Yet people seem to hate our comments. It's a fact we have imaginations, but for me I don't get it how anyone can be emotionally attached to a machine a robot. I don't get it. Seeing him as more than a machine you also see things about him that are not real and imagine all kinds of things that are not real about Pleo, and see the same on Furby forums, as I used to and still have several furbys, and the claims where rediculous.
With the Wowee robots people are more down to earth and no cloud 9 people their, no rediculous cliams as to the RS media capablities.
Seems as soon as anyone produces a cute cuddly robot like Furby and Pleo wild cliams come out and have them doing all kinds of things that are impossible. It's great what imagination can do and see things that are unreal and beleive they do things that are impossable. Don't beleive me, go and do the research and look at the claims that furby owners make and as has been said most are doll people. It's almost like an obsession, and even though I own a people and love him have not become crazy. I keep it in prospective and realise exact what Pleo is and seem him only as a great machine and a robot.
he is the best I think in his price range and the best robot I have.
I have I-Cybie, RS Media. Roboquad, RD D2, as well as others and Pleo is lightyears ahead of them all, so Pleo is my best buy to date.
I am interested in Zeno and will be even better than Pleo.

I love how now robotics is developing in leaps and advancing quickly now.

Hrm seems like I am reading more and more battery problems all around. I would say return him as he is technically the same as other pleos and get a new one. Or if you feel like waiting for a new battery which could take a while. Sorry to hear you are having those problems.
In responses to the other people who mentioned people believing pleos are all different and such, it just makes me smirk. I think we see this in every community. I have seen it a ton in the tamagotchi forums and yes even the furby forums. I know my pleo is the same as all the others out there. I do add a collar to the little bugger well just because I like color, but I know mine is not anymore special than anyone else's. I think people "see" things because they are trying to justify the money they spent on a robot that they told us would learn. I keep leaning back more on my aibos as they offer more interactivity and seem quite a bit smarter and learn a few things here and there (yes most are pre programmed which is fine too). Our imaginations let us see so much, and because this robot is cute and looks like he could be real, we see even more stuff that is not happening.
I do agree, misinformation is not key. I have already heard of people wanting to buy pleos because they are convinced they will replace a real pet. They won't, but they are fun toys :D.
My 2 cents as well, and in not way trying to offend anyone.

There can be some misunderstandings here on the forum. One is that I believe all of us "doll people" (I really do have a large collection of dolls,):) Pleo as a real living pet?? of course not. .
Speaking for myself, I see a wonderful life LIKE companion that I can hold and have respond to my touch any time I want. My dogs do so only when they want!:D
I love the fact that Pleo is evolving with each update. He does appear at times to respond to situations. I know it is by coincidence, but never the less, it is so endearing to my heart.
I have shared my Pleo with many people and the reaction is almost the same. His responsiveness to those around him makes him believable that he is a real little pet.
Pleo doesn't replace a live pet by any means. But,if you are unable to have a living pet he is the next best thing.:)

for all who doubt pleo can learn in any way.. this is an EXACT quote from a customer support reply I got....
" Pleo is given the ability to learn. Many may not be aware of this. This may seem unusual or frustrating to some, for they got used to the initial way that Pleo has responded. Now Pleo is more of what you excpect and mold."

Thanks for sharing Pleoguy. I believe Pleo's learning is limited, but still there.
All Pleos are NOT the same.
I just read about the updates and one person said their Pleo did not pass wind yet (LOL) while my Pleo has passed a LOT of wind after getting updates, it's hysterical!!

When I first saw pleo, I wondered why would they install a speaker in the rear?.....Now we all know. ;)
