View Full Version : Sleeps often

Does anyone notice how often Pleo Sleeps? I found if he sleeps then if you hold him upside down he does not like it, so fully awakens him and starts walking around again. Mine walks and explores a lot, and is so intent on exploring and walking he does not always respond to petting.

I notice when th battery is flat, when you take out the battery its quite hot, like when it's fully charged it's quite hot.

I would think by him going to sleep is because the battery is warm, so goes to sleep. Mine lasts well over 1 hour. I think it around one and 3/4 hours to 2 hours or close to it. So seems the battery gets warm, so think the sleeping factor is a safety measure.

i have not tried to see how long he sleeps before he walks around again, or don't know if he will do this, so fully wake him up by holding him upside down till he screams.

Seems to make him active for a goos while again.

I have Pleo home for a week from work, starting today. Its been through birthing etc with other people. Iv taken it out of box and put fully charged battery in, but all it does is make a sound like "huh?" over and over.

Anyone know what is wrong?

I dont know how long it has been since it was played with, and the battery is always taken out when not in use.

I dont know if this will help you with your problem or not.. it might. but heres a tip..If you turn pleo off and he still has battery life, the battery develops a "memory" so If you charge the battery while it still has energy, this will make the battery last a shorter period of time, so when charging pleo, make sure the battery is 100% out of juice:), could this be your problem??

lmc
04-08-2008, 11:51 AM
it could be, but its not sleeping. Ive no idea what my colleagues have been doing battery-wise! Ive been "cuddling" pleo and its moved its head and two legs as if cuddling into me and stopped saying huh, but otherwise not doing anything. Bit frustrating, as the other one, thats still in work, is very playful.

I bought a Pleo, and my daughter was excited and we put the battery in and turned him on. He moaned for a couple seconds and went to sleep.

So we charged the battery up until it went green light. Placed the battery in and Pleo won't turn on. We have stroked his back, shaked him gently and lifted up and down.

No response at all.

Hi ajay_soni,

Sorry you are having problems. Can you tell us how long it took for the battery charger light to turn to green? It should average around 3 hours to charge. Also be sure to check the battery to make sure it's not warm before inserting in Pleo after charging.

As mentioned if you think everything was OK with the battery please contact Customer Support as it's easier for them to walk through things with you step by step to figure out what is happening. Let us know how it goes. :D<TABLE style="WIDTH: 335pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=446 border=0><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 335pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 16310" width=446><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 12.75pt" height=17><TD class=xl65 style="BORDER-RIGHT: #f0f0f0; BORDER-TOP: #f0f0f0; BORDER-LEFT: #f0f0f0; WIDTH: 335pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: #f0f0f0; HEIGHT: 12.75pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent" width=446 height=17><a target="_new" href="http://pleoworld.com/support"><b>Customer Support</b></a></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Usually when you try to turn on Pleo (or wake him up) and you only get a snore it means the battery is either dead or too hot. Please check to make sure the battery is firmly seated in the charger while charging. I angle the battery slightly so the back end goes in first then gently push down on the front end. You will hear two distinct clicks. Then make sure you are getting a full charge. Some people in the forums are reporting faster charges but the average should be approximately 3 hours.

Also make sure the battery is not too warm or hot.

If neither of these is the problem then please contact Customer Support so they can help you figure out what the problem may be.

Watch your charge time closely, if it is very quick to turn on the green light, you probably have a bad charger. My first charger was defective and would indicate fully charged after 10-30 minutes. Once that was replaced, the charge times went up to about 2.5 hours or so, and everything now works great.

I am betting you have a bad charger that is giving a false positive and shutting down too early.

I love my Stanley but he doesn't seem normal. First he stops very often and kinda "sleeps". He doesn't make noise, he just freezes. Its somewhat hard to wake him up. Then he has NEVER eaten yet! I feed him his leaf all the time but all he does is Tug Of War! :( Then he will not make noise a lot even if you're playing with him. I was so excited for Pleo.....but truthfully....he hasn't been fun these last few days. If all he does is freeze how can I ever have fun with Stanley? :( Plus the only trick I can get him to do is the howling trick.

Hi girl4God,

Have you upgraded Stanley to LifeOS 1.1 yet?
How many times have you run him and for how long?

girl4God
05-22-2008, 10:04 PM
No I haven't upgraded him on purpose. I wanted to see the old version first. I have ran him somewhere around 6 or 7 times. I have two batteries so its easier. I know it hasn't been a lot but Stanley seems a bit unusual! I still LOVE him though! :)

PleoWorldHostSauri
05-22-2008, 10:10 PM
Ah ok. The upgrade does make them more active and they will fall asleep less.

You can try interacting with him to keep him awake, but mine would do that too... just go to sleep in the middle of play time.

If you want to try something really easy and cool check out the Lovestruck or Holiday downloads, I promise you will laugh so hard at those!! They wont permanently change Stanley, they only affect him if the SD card is in. :)

Weird stuff concerning the freezing part.
Does he just freeze in the middle of a certain action? And must you turn Stanley OFF and ON again before he does anything?
Because that shouldn't happen, old firmware or not.
I do remember that Pluriel use to be less active as well, but she didn't sleep often and especially when you interacted with her.

I have had two pleos and in both cases with the new battery the charger went green in 10-30 minutes, incorrectly!
I decided to re-seat the battery and continue the charge with the sond battery and the battery charged for the normal 3 ish hours and I had a full hour on the hatch-charge.

Starfire

Before the upgrades Sephy hardly ever ate her leaf. Also, unless I was paying constant attention to her she would fall asleep. But I didn't need to turn her off and on to wake her up. Try the upgrade and see if that makes a difference.

With the new upgrades Pleo does freeze in the middle of what he is doing and ususally means a flat battery, with the old upgrade he just fell asleep.

If your Pleo falls asleep hold him upside down, will make him wide awake as he does not like being held upside down.

Denodan, Havoc is running 1.1 and so was Rex and they both fall asleep upon the battery becoming low.

I haven't had Fidget freeze up too much and I haven't upgraded him yet. It does seem like the freeze ups happen when he has been very active and the battery is getting too warm or running low. Fidget is not too interested in eating either, though he does like to play tug of war. His favorite thing though is getting petted. I took him away this weekend and it was funny, but I swear he behaved differently with the new people he met. When they were petting him he behaved one way, then when we were alone and I was petting him he behaved like he usually does. He didn't sing at all for any of his new friends, but I really like his singing and when we were alone he was singing like crazy! I swear he can tell the difference between people! So maybe try changing how you are touching him. Do things a little differently and see if Stanley changes what he does.

Not really. With the old and the new version she always goes to sleep.
With the NEW update, my pleo did freeze once and that was due to an overheating battery.
So I believe people get those two things mixed up! ;)

Rub his under his chin and neck a lot!:)
...And see what happens when you let/help him sit down! You can now play with Stanley instead of him just sitting there doing nothing!

I got my Pleo on June 6,2008,and In the 3 times using him I have had him freeze up each time. Not just sleeping, actually freezing up and non responsive for about 5-10 seconds. I have not updated my Pleo yet due to the fact I see many owners complaining that the new update makes their Pleo less realistic, and more like a toy Furby.

When my Pleo freezes up,typically the position he is in is head straight forward, tail straight out and eyes wide open. Like I said he will stay like this a few seconds, and he is non responsive. It usually happens quite a few times after about 20-30 minutes of play.

Yes, they do sleep quite a bit at the beginning. Remember he's just a baby. :-) Also the more you pet Pleo the less he will go exploring as he will prefer to stay and get petted. I'd go through a couple more battery charges and if Pleo is still not exploring much try ignoring him and/or press the two front leg sensors (Above the knees) for about 3 seconds or so.

Irwin hatched in early July, and he was like that at first.

Then he started walking on his own. But for whatever reason, for his first few charges' worth of walking around, he preferred walking BACKWARD to walking forward. (If yours decides to go through a moonwalking stage, be watchful if you let him walk on a tabletop -- they only have edge detection when they're walking forward.)

Now he walks forward. When he feels like it, that is. ;) He didn't much feel like walking forward today. He preferred singing for attention and growling at my cane (which is large, baseball-bat shaped, and made of a light-colored wood, so it was probably easy for his nose-cam to see). When he got fussed over, he was in a "I'll just stand here forever, feel free to pet me until your arm's too tired to move" mode. He takes after his two feline brothers, in other words. ;)

Anyway, watch Kal-El's progress as his behavior evolves over different charge cycles. But I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't want to walk around a whole lot for the first few charges. He'll grow into exploring. Mine still is, and he's been active for about a month.
