You can do this three ways.

Buy iron on transfer paper and print out your own design/phrase. One problem, these tend to fade/wash away fast.

Cafepress.com allows you to build a store. But you have to design it on your computer, so you need some sort of paint and/or editing program. Also, you cannot sell your design to anyone else, as that is copyright infringment against Ugobe.

Lastly, and IMO, the best way: http://www.customizedgirl.com/cgi-bin/main.cgi
This website allows you to create a phrase and add small clipart right on the site. Many kinds of clothing styles and colors to choose front. Its an all-in-one personal clothing creator. I plan to use this site to make some Pleo shirts for myself and my daughter. It also keeps people from buying the shirts you design, thus having copyright issues with Ugobe :)

I did ask Ugobe about this a couple of months ago.
You are allowed to use the NAME "Pleo" and "Ugobe"
But you are NOT allowed to use the IMAGE of Pleo or the logo they created.

(Though I do wonder, if I took a picture of our Pleo, Crusoe, and edited out the background, I am thinking I can legally do that, but I am not sure 100%)

Based on copyright law, if you take a picture of an easily identifiable product, you must get permission from the product owner to use the image. The examples they give are like you can't take a picture of your iPOD and sell the picture. I would assume that a Pleo is an easily identifiable product, and would fall under the same classification.

I think it's stupid for Ugobe to not let us use our own pictures of our own pleos for personal use, and I really think they should authorize some sort of royalty deal for us to set up true cottage industry and sell bumper stickers, t-shirts, or coffe cups, etc. But because of their legal heavy-handedness, you'll never be able to buy an "I love Bob the Pleo" T-shirt. :(

I agree with you about the Pleo image. UGOBE is being a bit mean-spirited to forbid the use of our own photographs of our own robots on our shirts. These Pleo robots to most of us have become our pets. We can't put our own Pleo pet images on shirts, but can buy the UGOBE-sactioned T-shirts at a BIG price.

These are just my opinions and I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings about this. I do wonder, though, about all the Pleo cartoons that owners put on this forum and don't get socked with a lawsuit about using the Pleo image.

I wouldn't say they are mean-spirited. Many companies do it.

And you CAN use the word PLEO. So you CAN make/buy a "I love Bob the Pleo" shirt. It just won't be Ugobe created. I did ask them about using the word PLEO and they said YES. Just not the image.

Not sure. IMO (and by NO means am I a person to give legal advice), maybe just the outline of a Pleo might be acceptable, being it is the outline of a dinosaur. Pleo doesn't have a special shape to him. He is shaped to look like a baby Camarasaurous and they are not copyrighted, so its hard to say.

Siren, you are right about my use of the term "mean spirited" describing UGOBE's not letting us put Pleos on our T-shirts. A much better word is "greedy." Almost $25 for a T-shirt with a Pleo on it is a lot of money.

I can't help but wonder what UGOBE was thinking, to lose this opportunity to price official T-shirts reasonably and get loads of free Ploe publicity by the proud wearers.
