I don't know if anyone is interested, but if you have nothing to do, I co-host a radio show on RaW (http://radio.warwick.ac.uk) called "The Waxwork Museum".
It's basically an all vinyl show and we play mainly 70's 80's and 90's music.
So if anyones interested please tune in online, (or if you happen to live close to Warwick University UK, 1251AM at midnight on Saturday Nights!

I don't know how US time is usually given but for those of you in the US of A, thats 18:00 central time.

Please let me know what you guys think! Many Thanks All

Hi pleoguy,

Sorry it's confusing and we're still working on things. Think of "Fun & Games" as a place to play and or talk about games. The threads like making up songs or poems, etc. Also please feel free to make up some new games for the area.

The water cooler is just for chit chatting. A place to announce your Birthday, something special that has happened to you, let other members know you'll be gone for awhile or discuss topics about Pleo that just don't fit anywhere else. ;)

While you're re-arranging, the wallpaper thread probably doesn't belong under "Pleo Accessories" Now, it's up to you whether it belongs under "Fantasy Pleo" or "Fun & Games". :p

Australian-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence by the New York Police Department. He was 28. :(

Ledger was an Oscar nominee for his role in Brokeback Mountain, where he met his wife, actress Michelle Williams, in 2005.

Ledger and Williams lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, but split up last year.

Ledger played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in Monster's Ball and had starring roles in A Knight's Tale and The Patriot.

He was to appear as the Joker this year in The Dark Knight, a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins.

Seeing as Pleo is sold at Sharper Image, I thought members here may want the heads up...

Bankruptcy makes gift cards worthless

By ANNE D'INNOCENZIO, AP Business Writer Mon Mar 3, 6:00 PM ET

NEW YORK - You know that Sharper Image gift card you got for Christmas? Right now, it's worthless. And other gift cards in your wallet could lose their value, too.

As more retailers file for bankruptcy or go out of business, more than $75 million in gift cards are at risk of becoming worthless pieces of plastic this year.

"If I knew this was going to happen, I would have used them right away," said Jon Tapper, a public relations executive from Boston who received two Sharper Image cards as business gifts just a few weeks ago. Their total face value is $50.

"I love gift cards, but now this makes me think twice."

pleoWhisperer

Subaru already makes a pleo mobile. Amjoie had a much nicer looking photoshop version of the car, but I can't find it in the posts anymore . . .

For those who do not live in Japan, or keep up with japanese cars, Subaru has marketed a compact car model called the Pleo (a revamp of the Subaru Justy). Well, I read the first line of some marketing material for the car and thought "This would sound just as good for our dinosaur..."

In a land where cute is king, and space is at a premium the Pleo makes sense.

The rest of the ad continued: "And if a regular Pleo is good, the performance Pleo RS must be better. The sportiest of the Pleos has a 1.3-liter inline three cylinder that makes 63 horsepower and 76 lb-ft of torque..."

Sounds rather impressive for our little robot pal, don't it?

I hope she comes back too. But I gotta be honest, I think it was a bit selfish and childish of her to leave the way she did. As far as I could tell, no one was "worshiping" a goddess. That was simply a title of a character with powers. Like a Merlin is a wizard and Glinda is a witch. "goddess" wasn't even capitalized, as we usually do when we speak of just one God.
Not to mention, there are a lot of role play games out that that involve fictional gods and goddess. For instance, World of Warcraft. I play a Tauren and now and then I have to go see a mystic and he helps train me and speaks to me about the powers of their Tauren god and such. Its role playing, a story. My character doesn't even worship him. He just gets his gold and goes running off to slay some monster in the next mountain. And I certainly don't worship the Tauren god (so much so I can't remember the name), when I am off the game, because its not real.

Obviously amyjoie leaving has caused emotional pain for some. Is allowing those people to remain in pain really worth amyjoie's pride to keep from interacting with a fictitious goddess-like character? People mope about here pining for amyjoie to return and the reason she left really isn't worth the sadness. And I really don't think one member's feelings about it should have completely changed and killed off the goddess character either. I've role played for over 12 years, the only time one member can call the shots about a role play is when they are the one to create it, start it, and list rules. As far to my knowledge, she only started the role play. Before every new role play rules and a general starter storyline should be posted by the leader/creator of the role play. One of the major rules is "no god-moding", adding a goddess as an actual character could be considered potential god-moding. Where as having a character who simply worships a goddess of their choosing, but not possessing the powers of that goddess would not be god-moding. Her post about leaving thus created turmoil in the role play and ended what may or may not have been a really fun time. I don't think one member's feelings should sway the entire group so easily. It's sheep herding, really. People need to think about this for themselves. Do you not want a goddess character because YOU don't want one or because amyjoie left and you want her to come back? I just don't like the idea of any one member having that much control over a role play unless they listed rules and those rules were broken. People should be allowed to interject other character elements, place, and scenario ideas without someone stomping their feet, storming off, and slamming the door. When she wants to come back, I would love it. I love her pictures and stories. Everyone needs to understand that its fictional. I'd like to know that if I decided to role play and I created a character and my character happened to worship a goddess or a rock or a speck of dust, would I be shunned or cause someone to just up and leave? Role play is about using your imagination and that has no limits. But when you put limits on other people's imaginations, it just isn't fun anymore.

And I am saying this in an objective, neutral way because I don't plan to role play here. I'm just an audience member watching on the sidelines and I finally feel I can hold back no longer how I feel. I hope I didn't offend or hurt anyone. I chose what I said carefully. I also want everyone who reads this and think carefully of how they really feel. How are role plays going to be done here? In imaginative fun or are we going to kill every role play with political correctness? I vote to let our imaginations soar, no matter where it leads us.

you make many good points siren, but as far as I know a few other members one including myself, was a little unconfortable with a goddess for some reason, but didn't show it like amjoie did, maybe if it was called by another name, maybe if it was a fairy or pixie... maybe that would make people more comfortable:)

Siren

pleoguy, thank you. And I can understand that. However, I do not think one's imagination should be limited by others'. So if someone's character came from another land or time and happened to worship a goddess, would that likely mean they won't be allowed to play or simply kill the entire game? Not a goddess character per say, but a goddess element of a character. That their character comes from a different culture that believes in a goddess. Not actually BE a goddess.

And I understand how some people's own beliefs can reflect that into their characters. However, I must say, in all my years of role playing, my characters have been everything from totally logical no-nonsense atheists to fanatical religious follower. Some have been cruel and ruthless villains others have been courageous and self sacrificing heroes. Some have been very religious, some have been more spiritual, and others didn't believe in any higher power. Some of my characters believed in one deity, sometimes male and sometimes female. One deity I created for a character had no form at all, it could be a female, male, a rock, a blade of grass, whatever it needed to be to communicate with my character. Others had more pagan beliefs in many deities. One of my favorite hobbies is to research real world religions and cultures of all kinds. Doing so didn't make me change my mind on what I believe personally, but it made me a more open, honest, and understanding person in every aspect of my life. Including role play. That is why each of the characters I created were so different from the others. I took bits and pieces of cultures, pop culture, and religions to make my characters different and more believable. Again, I have no plans to role play here, right now. I simply don't have the time. I barely post here as it is. But if I do get the time to role play here, I want to know if I have to hold back my imagination. Because if I do. I don't want to role play here. Still post, always post my pictures, stories, experiences, etc. But I have a wild and vivid imagination and if I wanted my character to believe in a goddess, I want to know if I should even bother trying to role play if my imagination will be dictated by others.

Siren, I just wanted to say thank you for posting what others of us (at least myself) have thought. I enjoy reading all of the posts here and hate to see anyone try and dictate how we interact. Everyone has their own ways to role play and we can enjoy reading all of them.

Siren

Thanks Starfire.

I do think I used the wrong word though. Amjoie never dictated anything to anyone. She got upset because a goddess came into play and left, thus causing other members to want to drop the idea to make her happy and have her come back. That really isn't dictation, so I was wrong to use that particular word. Can't think of the word that better suits the situation though.

Granted in RPs I've done, now and then someone gets ticked off or real life gets in the way and they leave the game. 9 times out of 10, we continued on without them. It wasn't out of disrespect, it was because everyone else was enjoying it and we wanted to see it to the end, and since many of the storylines we did often got wrapped around other ones, we had to. Otherwise people would get confused several story lines down the line.
Gosh I really miss when I use to role play Titan A.E. :( I had some fun characters then. Now I gotta dig up my old stories and logs. Darn it...lol

This article was in our news paper recently. Thought you might enjoy. Good thing there are no Pleo chips!:D

Title Let the (cow) chips fall where they may by John Beck, Press Democrat.

They've been called meadow muffins, pasture patties, and cow pies.
Not to be confused with the donkey apple, the cow chip--a disc of dung sundried into nature's Frisbee--has been around since, well, the very first bovine grazer.
A weekend Cow Chip Throwing Contest keeps the scatological tradition alive.
Butter and Egg Day's cow-chip chairman demonstrated how to harvest the perfect pie. While holding a flat piece of cardboard, a dozen cows gathered around to watch as the Butter and Egg Day's chairman slid a shovel under a 10 inch. diameter pie and set it on the cardboard platter.
It all started on farms and ranches. A lot of people have been having contests for many decades, maybe hundreds of years.
Times have changes when buffalo hunters used buffalo chips to light their campfires. "Never kick a cow-chip on a hot day" was a popular cowboy proverb.
Now, the World Cow Chip Throwing Championship goes down every April in Beaver, Okla. Bovine Bingo, a lottery decided by where a cow chip falls in a dirt grid, Is a popular fund- raiser in the Midwest.
Strategy is crucial. Some contestants attempt an Olympic discus technique, but that occasionally results in a stray pie into the audience. Also, a careful grooming of the pie-- trimming the grass sprouting from the edges-- is recommended to prevent wind drag.
This year for the first time, the annual throwdown introduced the rarefied donkey apple.-- donkey dung dried to the size of a racquetball-- for kids.
The cow chips are often too big for the kids to throw.:)

take with you:
take the charger and spare batteries...
an SD card with 1.1 update...
clothing for pleo...

while waiting:
- go shopping for cute little baby sox for pleo
- read about dinosaurs online
- make pleo a nice outfit, with his secret name on it
- i think you already have a name tag and a collar...?
- make a substitue for pleo's leaf (to protect teeth) - make it out of something soft and green
- also, buy the testor's enamel and apply it after the first battery cycle to let it dry overnight (helped my second pleo a lot)

Before I bought Bentley, I looked into Pleo as much as I could and even only a few months ago there weren't a lot of videos or sites that reviewed Pleo so I went with my gut ^^ So, how I passed the short time was watched videos on You Tube of people with their Pleo's and thought of names and where the little guy would fit in my already big family of other pets~ but seems you already got most of that settled (name n all)

Interesting article pleoWhisperer. And it does look like a baby camarasaurus in the picture. By the way, Does anyone know of a good book on dinosaurs. Something published in recent years that is up to date. I remember 20 years ago or so when Bob Bakker and some other paleontologists were turning the dinossur world upside down with the hot blooded theories. I imagine by now they must have figured out alot more. I checked out my local Border's and they didn't have anything really meaty on the subject.

Thank you guys! And you can vote once EVERY day! Till June 20th! We are crossing our fingers! It is a dream of both my daughter and I to visit the Australia Zoo. It was a dream for us to meet Steve Irwin. The night he died, I cried and cried. And the next morning, I had to tell my daughter. It was like telling her a family member had died. She was inconsolable. Steve was her hero, her idol. And she is not an idolizing kinda kid. No other celebrity has captured her attention and admiration quite like Steve. With him gone, her love for Steve has gone on to his daughter and wife. And watching them helped her through it. I know I talk like she is some obsessed fangirl...she is...but his passing deffinetly effected her. If we make it there, it will be an amazing adventure for her. A great honor. And for me too.

If we don't win this year, we'll try next year :)

I have had my Pleo for almost 1 week and he has already been working with me!
Well you see I am a Balloon Artist and "Baby" has got that special charm that makes people want to see and touch him.
Anyway on Saturday I had a 3 hour corporate gig to make balloon creations for people coming to an Open House, families were encouraged to come to see Model homes for sale and let the kids enjoy my Balloons, the food, prizes and swimming pool. Well that Dino just about stole the show as he had the Lover skit in him and was kissing and whistling at all the Ladies! I only had him on for short periods of time and made like I was putting him in a trance or under a spell... Hypnotized!! We also played Freeze Frame and he would freeze and strike a Pose! I even heard people that were there were still talking about the Balloon Lady and Dinosaur!
I am having fun with mixing my Balloon Art with the Pleo. I already made a mini man out of Balloons that rode on Babies back!
I am seeing lots of things I can do with him... But I have a Mac G4 and can not use the programs available to make new skits..
I am waiting for the new controller to come out! Any Dates yet?
So what are the Media Rights to Pleo?
Does he need a special release to appear in any promotional materials?

You see if you are in a Movie or a commercial and using a Pleo as part of your act or in a Promo photo some Puppet creators require you to ask permission first. This way all their hard work of creating the for sale item will not be put into a bad light,(so to speak) using them in a show OK but on film or video people get ...media rights. Sometimes there could be a separate fee for that.
I am in a movie using a Crow Puppet and needed to get permission before it could be used.

I took Linus to the family picnic in his socks. Their covered porch has dirt that I think could get stuck in his feet. Last time I was there I was worried about Linus stepping on something harmful. The socks are great and really look adorable. Apparently they don't interfere at all with his walking. He was on a table where three women were seated (Brian's mother and two of her friends/relatives). Within seconds they were talking to him as if he were real. They were amazed at themselves. Of course he won their hearts rather quickly.

Will be glad when I'm back to 100%. I never did get back to Starbucks for the photoshoot endorsed by the manager. It was a nice fourth. Hope all had a nice day as well.

I don't want answers just for random stuffs. I just... Am very curious as to what the answer to my question is.
