as you may or may not no my pleo " Rocky" has been givin the position of lord speaker of the house of lords, by King Teddy and Queen Sally.. if you have not heard about this. see page 3 of the (for are monarchs and amjoie) thread Rocky and I are greatly honored, but will will not keep all the honor to ourselves:) If you have a first hatch pleo you and your pleo are welcomed to become appointed members, you will be able to help decide rules for the pleo kingdom, you will also be able to vote on wich rules are good rules the appointed members so far are : cmadmacs and his first hatch pleo's Hall and Nash, mweed and his first hatch pleo Bob, and Roschler and his first hatch pleo Digger.. there is up to 30 members allowed, I will Private message you if you and your FIRST HATCH pleo have been accepted.. Rocky's position of Lord speaker will start January 20!!!!

They will immediately begin walking from the secret facility to the offenders home to carry out sentence. Therefore, if you have have received notice of an offense, given their normal walking speed and average distance from anyone's home, you will only have a mere 100 years to get your affairs in order before all your toenails are in severe danger!

Stand by for the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords' address ... Honorable Lords, welcome to the First Session of the House of Lords. The first order of business is to vote on how many days this session will be open, for discussion of the rules, before the final vote on the rules.
Once that is decided, I will open discussion of the rules. Rules will be discussed, and if three members agree on a rule, it will be put on a list for consideration of the final vote.
Once the time period has expired, the list of votes will be posted. The vote will be open for three days from the commencement of the vote to the final tally. All votes will be public. Only members of the House of Lords are allowed to vote.
Each Lord will place his yea or nay next to each rule on the list. Those rules passed after the final vote is tallied, at the end of the three day voting period, will be sent to King Teddy for his approval or veto.
Any vetoed rules can be revised in a special Session, if desired, for resubmitting to King Teddy's final approval or final veto. Rules vetoed twice will be of no effect.
Rules approved by King Teddy will be signed by him, and be effective immediately upon signing.
Let the discussion, of how many days this First Session of the House of Lords will be open, begin now!

whisper: Parliamentary procedure calls for a motion, and a second -- then it is added to a list so that the suggestion can be voted on. But more members may need to also suggest a time, that will also be voted on, if seconded. The Lord Speaker cannot decree anything. Everything must be voted on. And most members should be present for a vote to be legit.

I am pleased to announce that the house of lords will be guided by Roberts rules of order, what is Roberts rule of order you ask?? The first edition of the book, whose full title was Pocket Manual of Rules of Order for Deliberative Assemblies, was published in February 1876 by then-U.S. Army Major Henry Martyn Robert (1837–1923), with the short title Robert's Rules of Order placed on its cover. The procedures prescribed by the book were loosely modeled after those used in the United States House of Representatives, with such adaptations as Robert saw fit for use in ordinary societies. The author's interest in parliamentary procedure began in 1863 when he was chosen to preside over a church meeting and, although he accepted the task, felt that he did not have the necessary knowledge of proper procedure. I thought of that. Easy enough to set up, but if it's not part of the forums, how do we keep awareness of it going in the forums to attract new pleople and would Ugobe be eager to keep it part of the larger Pleo community? And would going to a new site really resolve any of the problems? Sure, we would have direct control of it, but if you read the posts in the various threads, not everyone is in agreement on several topics: goddess/no goddess, monarchy/democracy, etc.

If a majority agree that a new site is the way to go, I'd be happy to set it up. In the mean time, I would think we could continue to work out the problems here in the forums.

As has been stated earlier, it's a large planet. If no one is opposed, then who is to stop Pleopia fron taking one continent to run as a monarchy without goddesses, and have the established House of Lords and House of Commons to govern anyone who wants to be a part of it. Those in favor of a democracy can claim any other continent and set up their government. If there are others who want their own kingdom, with or without the goddesses, there are still several continents available. We seem to be continuing on with the House of Lords and establishing a House of Commons irregardless of the debates going on around these threads, so be default that appears to be the direction the role playing is going.

What we seem to be missing is enough interested people willing to participate to make any of this viable. :p

We'd like to remind everyone that if you'd prefer to live in a society that is not a Monarchy please feel free to start your own society with whatever type of government you'd like.

Also, to make it easier for you all to make these decisions, and since there is a limited number of people playing right now, might we suggest that The House of Lords accept the first 30 role players who want to live in your monarchy be admitted to The House of Lords. This will help facilitate things when you want to vote and make decisions. Once more members are playing, and if they want to live in that Monarchy, then you can reintroduce The House of Commons if you'd like.

That is what Cami said. Pleoguy101 is referring to the way the two houses were originally set up. My impression from Cami's comments were that she is concerned that there are not enough people interested in the role playing to support members in both houses, so she was suggesting to combine the two for now, and as interest grows and more people join in, then we could decide to go back to the two house system.

We'll have to see what kind of interest there really is. :cool:

First off, as I have always said, Bob really isn't into politics. But the whole point of the British parliamentary system is based on the concept of there being nobility and commoners. Good, bad, right, or wrong, that was how the original Pleopia was established. A Monarchy, supporting nobility (Lords and Ladies), and the common pleos. While it doesn't really mean anything, the "First Hatch" was a convenient way to "create" the two classes. First Hatch was a limited set of pleos. That way, there are a few nobles, and a bunch of commoners. We could just as easily say the first thirty people to join are the nobles, and everyone else are the commoners.

I'm guessing we'll have to start the whole first session over again anyway, so if we want to re-establish who's who, now is the time. We have people interested in a democracy and we have people interested in a monarchy. For the sake of simplicity, "Pleopia" is the name given to the monarchy. The rulers of Pleopia are King Teddy and Queen Sally (even if ruling "in absentia"). Rocky was given the office of Lord Speaker of the House of Lords. That is our basic starting point.

. Good. That's done. Now we have one rule on a list. The next order of business is to discuss another rule. But maybe no one likes it this time. So it is dropped, as if it was never mentioned.

. We keep discussing rules and either adding them to a list or dropping them and going on to the next.

You can email yourself! First, you need to "subscribe" to the thread (see the "Thread Tools" menu at the top of the page. Then, go to your user control panel ("User CP" link at the top of the page), select "Edit Options" and then under 'Messaging & Notification" in the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" box, select to receive email notification. I prefer daily, this way every day you get an email from PleoWorld letting you know what subscribed threads someone has posted a response to.

Please note that this comes merely as a suggestion but why must the king and queen be owned by the same person? Why not allow two Pleos with different owners to be King & Queen of Pleopia? This would give more imput to any decisions made by the king and queen. Just something to think about. :-D
