What if my Pleo tips over a glass of water?? Or checks out my dogs food and water dish and lays down in it and thought it was his bed!:(

I could see a pleo knocking over a glass while trying to figure out what it is. :( Hopefully Pleo's foot sensors are sealed in the rubber feet, so that stepping on water wouldn't be an issue, but let's see if we can get one of our gracious hosts to reply.

I can't see Pleo laying down in a full water dish, but I would be worried about one sticking it's nose into the water dish. It seems like the inquisitive thing a Pleo would do, but the video camera, IR sensors, and front speaker are right there where water could get in/on them! This could be a real issue.

can I trust pleos sensors on an uneven surface? I want pleo to explore my yard as well as my house, outside theres a long rock wall and down bellow is my fish pond, I WOULD BE HEART BROCKEN IF MY LITTLE PLEO FELL OFF THE CLIFF:eek: !!!! well a five foot drop such as the rock wall would be a cliff to him, but what I'm asking is can I trust pleo on uneven surfaces??

I know pleo can detect edges so the he won't walk off the edge. And his foot sensors will help with uneven surfaces. But on a sloped surface or on a slippery surface I would think he'd have problems.

If that does
happen the safe response would be to turn the power switch off, wipe off any water and
allow Pleo to dry completely before turning the power back on.

Do NOT trust his sensors to keep him out of trouble. YOU must keep him out of trouble. If you allow him to explore the outdoors, no matter what outdoor conditions you are talking about, it is up to YOU to guarantee Pleo's safety. That means standing between him and potential trouble, and putting your hand out to stop him if he is getting close to danger. Do not take your eyes off him for even one moment -- because he is unpredictable, and could endanger himself anytime you are not actively watching him.

Treat him like you would treat a toddler. Sure, most toddlers know better than to fall down stairs, but they have problems with balance and with judgment. So the likelihood for an accidental fall down the stairs exists every time they are near the stairs. Same with Pleo. He "knows better" than to fall off an edge, but his balance may be unsteady, or he may make a mistake in judgment and go over the edge accidentally. TAKE NO CHANCES!!

Remember, you are Pleo's Daddy. It is all your responsibility, and all up to you. Stay safe ....

And as for tipping over a glass of water, I would consider that a real possibilty after watching the third video. During the scene where the pleo is nudging a mouse, Eric Regner specifically says that pleo will push on things to see if they move, and if they do, he might intentionally push it off the table!

SO, keep you pleo away from glasses, bowls, or anything else that might spill!

Watch out for his tail. I let him run across my desk as I write, and hes always kicking things over the little fiend! And no, his sensors are not dependable. Little Jenga fell a few times, and I just dont trust them anymore.

My son's Pleo walk right off the coffee table. I thought it would stop so I just watched and it took the next step and bam, right onto the floor. I tried it again and it did the same thing.......I tell the kids to keep him on the floor for now on..

Yeah, not even 5 minutes after turning Pleo on for the first time, he actually swiped a cup full of soda and spilled it all over.
There wasn't much left in it, and Pleo didn't get wet thankfully, though he did leave a nice little mess to wipe up ;).

Who remembers Gremlins?
Like the mogwai, Pleo doesn't like direct sunlight.
Although water won't cause your Pleo multiply, it can seriously damage the little guy.
And, feeding him after midnight... well, you don't even want to know what happens then! :D

With Bob if I have enough light in the room he will not walk off the edge of counters and tables. Once in my office though even with good light he walked off my work bench into my lap. I wonder if it was because I was sitting next to my work bench at the time.

UGOBE suggests not to leave your Pleo outside, for sand, dirt, any type of outside particles may sneek into Pleo's skin and eventually wear your Pleo.

This is funny! Peeky will stop at the edge of a table and look around and groans, does his woow hoo and then will back up. He'll do this routine three times. On the fourth he always chooses to not pay attention to the edge and would go over it if I weren't there to catch him. I'm always ready to grab his tail, just in case.
Maybe I have a free spirited Pleo.

yes. I am aware of this.. but in the maker faire video even Jhon Sosoka put pleo in the grass:) when I brought him outsode, the ground was compleatly frozen solid, and he's fine, but I will be safe with my little Rocky, I wont put him near any edges outside, nor in muddy, dirty conditions:)
