Pleo Real World Sightings

Hey was anyone at Robogames last week? Pleo had a booth there and I finally got to see him in person!

Yes I was at RoboGames on saturday :) It was excellent to finally see Pleo in person. He was being fussy and didn't want to wake up so one of the gentlemen picked up, held him against his chest and stroked his head. Then Pleo was bending around making little noises, rather a lot like a baby. I preordered my Pleo this morning :D

I was there too, it was a total surprise and great to see it in person! Getting to see (but not take pictures) of an earlier model without the skin was also a nice insight into what goes on underneath.

I bet that was interesting getting to see Pleo in a development stage! I heard from several people at Robogames last week that Pleo was a huge hit. All I could think to say was "well of course he is!"

Ugobe was blazingly kind enough to meet with me in Eagle Idaho in April. I got to see a Pleo prototype and meet Caleb and his crew. I was even allowed to take pictures and video. I made this video from the meeting:

Almost forgot, you won one of the first Pleo's didn't you? When do you get yours, do you know yet? Also, just curious, will your Pleo be different than the FH Pleos?

Thanks! I try my best. The Pleo I won is a "First Hatch" edition, so I'll get my Pleo 2 weeks before the main release in October 2007. That's the best release date estimate I've got. The "First Hatch" Pleos won't be any different than the other Pleos as far as I know. However, my Pleo will be the smartest of them all, as long as Pleos don't start taking after their owners! :rolleyes:

Don't worry. Pretty soon all of us here will be swapping Pleo photos and vids. In fact, I'm not sure if I eagerly await or dread the wave of Pleo photos that show the baby dino dresed in holiday costumes! Reindeer antlers and sweater anyone? :D

Real world *sightings* of Pleo/Pleo related stuff on the net, to be specific. Actually, we haven't been too good about staying on topic for any thread in the forum. I suppose that will have to change, come November. Up until now, the forum has been our own little small town personal playground. We haven't much needed rules, cuz we all get along so well. :D

But, of course, you are correct. A thread really should be about the topic of the title. And the busier it gets, the more we'll need to follow such obvious rules of netiquette.

But it has been fun, just being silly and spontaneous -- and dare I say, *wild and unruly* .... ;)

Hey Kay and everyone else,

No worries about getting a little off topic! This community was set up for all the Pleo lovers out there to discuss everything Pleo. As amjoie mentioned, as the community starts getting bigger we might (I would like to stress might) have to try to stick closer to topic on each thread. But the main goal is for you all to feel "at home" and just share the excitement we all feel about Pleo. :D

Hi guys, today was a great day cos i've seen a Pleo live! This is a little pic of Pleo on a table, taken in a bar i played as a dj on saturday. I'll post a short mobile-video on youtube soon... The only words i can say to describe Pleo is: Amazing! Adorable! Absolutely funny and unique! ;) I can't wait to adopt one in my home! (the temptation to take him home was very hard to resist!!!!)

hmm...interesting how they always bring pleo to cafe's and bars... its like Pleo an 'underground' thing. I would expect a red carpet everytime pleo makes an arrival... :p

Sorry... not a real-world sighting here... but I DO want to admit I've been following Pleo on Engadget for a while now and finally discussed it with my wife... we just pre-ordered from Amazon and it's going to be the 'big' Christmas present for my 4 and 5 year old sons... (*or so they think... personally, I'm probably going to end up being the biggest geek of them all*) :D
