In the first Webisode we see Pleos with "green eyes". Will Pleo available in Europe with different eyes colour? I hope to get mine with that colour!

The green and yellow eyes appear on some of the earlier prototypes, but all the recent prototypes seem to only have the blue eyes. From what we've been told so far, all production pleos this year have blue eyes. But I would hope Ugobe would change that, I like the green and yellow eyes as well.

Darn, I was really hoping they had different eye colors available. I really think it would make them seem more individual from one another, even with the same skin coloring. The eyes are the window to the soul, you know. ;)

Please if any developers are reading, push for different eye colors! The green eyes really looked natural and complemented the skin tone beautifully!

Actually one of the things I loved about the original furby was the different eye colors. That, combined with their assumption of an individual name and the varying voice pitches really sold me on their little personalities! Unfortunately the names and voice pitches were missing from Furby version 2 and honestly I couldn't fool myself into believing they had personalities. I still play with my originals but the revisions are back in the boxes.

I'm sure Pleo is so full of personality and quirks that he'll way surpass Furby, but if I have two of them running around it would be very cool if they had different eyes and slightly different voice pitches!

Eagerly awaiting Pleo! Not too long now!

Eyes we can't change, but the voice pitch we can -- in fact, we can make different voices (some of which probably won't even sound like a dino).

Undoubtedly, several varieties of voices will be available as downloads very soon after all our talented lay programmers get their hands on the tweaking software.

[I would love to see a slightly higher pitched, more "feminine" version of Ugobe's regular Pleo sounds -- because I want them both to sound like the original Pleos from Ugobe, but it would be fun to tell for sure whether Sally or Teddy is the one sounding off, at any given time.]

I'm waiting to find out which card is best for the downloads (size, brand, etc). I am anxious to get everything I need for Pleo. But I don't want to order the wrong thing. I'm hoping someone who knows what they are doing will tell us about their preference, when the time comes.

Well, since Pleo doesn't actually see with his eyes, maybe we could create some colored contact lenses.

i don't think so. The Pleo with green eyes in "Pleo and Ugobe's Three Laws" video is different from the first prototype. The skin is exaclty the same as the current Pleo pet.;)

I read somwhere that pleos voice changes over time, but remeber, pleos a dino and when you hear a certian bird you can tell what type of bird it is by the way it sounds, that usually "not all the time" is the case with different types of dogs too. people can also determine if theres peeper frogs in the woods or crickets by the way they sound, what I'm saying is, animals have different personalitys but 1 type of animal species usually has the same bark, chirp, screech etc tone. maybe most camarasaurouses had the same voice tone too, just a thought:)

I hopped into my time machine and ran back a few million years to check. Ugobe's got it all wrong. Camarasaurus' sound more like a cross between Elmer Fudd with Porky Pig's stutter.

Actually, when I play the video on the PleoWorld homepage and the Pleo calls out, my 19 month old daughter calls back to the Pleo and she has the sound down pretty good!

Next time you use that time machine, do a little sleuthing and let us know who Pleo likes to hang around with -- besides other Pleos.

Come October, your house is going to get really noisy, with Pleo and his little "echo." That must sound so cute. You'll have to record it for us to hear. :)

*laugh* Now there's an idea. Heck, just a pair of sunglasses would do!

As for different animal species having their own sounds which are all the same, I disagree. If one of my dogs bark in the backyard, I can tell you who it is without seeing. Mainly due to pitch, but a lot of breeds of dog also have unique voice characteristics too.

I'm not sure what technology was used in the furby to have the three voice pitches but it couldn't have been all that complicated. I request the ability to choose pitch be added to Pleo version 2.0 :)
Or make it random, after a reset, or when maturity is reached.

Can't wait to bring Pleo into work and freak out one of our managers... he can't deal with robots and whenever I bring one in he cracks me up!!! :D

What an adorable little girl you have. And the obvious joy in her eyes as she watches Pleo is delightful. Her giggle is infectious. A person can't help but share in her excitement. (Not to mention that I want to pick her up and give her a hug.)

Come to think of it, this little clip should be part of a Pleo commercial. LOL

You'd have to shoot the comercial with a real pleo, not just a computer screen, but it would make for a good commercial.

The eyes are blue on the official flash movie on the Ugobe website. Blue on the cover of the box. Blue in the official user guide.

Looks like soon we'll all have Pleos with beautiful Baby Blues, blinking back at us innocently.

At least for the first Pleos off the line. We don't know what they might do for the next rendition of Pleo ....

new eye colors? yellow eyes left over from making prototypes? maybe pleo has contracted a rare eye

P.S. I love pleo's eyes (ok, the fake ones), regardless of color (though I would be tempted to collect all their colors if they were made available to order!) :p I love the way the eyelids close kinda at an angle, unlike furby's eyes which close perfectly straight up/down. Also the design of the iris seems much more realistic than Furby's too.

Emilie
12-22-2007, 07:41 PM
It has to be random. I got mine from Amazon and was not given a choice. Actually, when I first got him, I thought that he didn't look right -- then I realized that it was because the Pleos I saw all had blue eyes. The yellow eyes are a little weird, he looks somewhat wolfish. :)

It would be nice if we could choose, so we could get different eye colored ones...

My little Knut has yellow eyes, we just watched Blade Runner together, and I think Knut wants to change his name to Deckard. :)

I think you're right that the yellow eyes make them look more dinosaur-like, but I think blue eyes are cute and more playful-looking. The yellow eyes are a little odd at first.

I prefer the yellow and green eyes myself. The blue still looks very nice, but I do like the yellow and green eyes better. I also think, according to evolution, birds are dinosaurs so I look at bird eyes, like some species of hawk's eyes, they comes in orange and yellow.

Me too. And I like the idea of them being random. I rather have random than choose. Just as much as if this was a real baby dinosaur, I might not know what colors its eyes are till it hatches. Too bad the eyes aren't closed when they are factory packed, so you don't know the color till the actual hatching :)

Oooh that would be an interesting surprise to not know what you're getting until his eyes opened upon first hatch. But now I see why they might have made that his default packing position mode (I also wondered why his eyes were defaulted to open while in the box), so that IF they decided to offer more range of eye colors, that it WOULD be easy for vendors (and the consumer) to see what they're getting inside the box!

I have noticed when Pleo Sleeps one eye is fully shut but the other is not quite completely closed, yet when he is full awake both eyes are fully open etc and fully move evenly etc.

Seems the left eye does not completely shut yet the right one does.

I am not to worried about it and maybe lifelike as cats eyes seems one is often shut tight and sometimes the other may not be.

I like how when he is on your shoulder goes to sleep and starts to snore.

Since Pleos eyes are discussed here, I'll bring up some ideas I had about them.
Of course, these would be for a new generation of Pleo, but still, here they are:

You know those kind of eyes that follow you no matter where you go? If not check this video: <a href="http://www.myvideo.de/watch/150016">Dragon follows</a>
His eyes could work in the same way, it isn't hard to do and the effect would be great! The only negative part would be, that it would never look like Pleo is focused on something else then the ones who look at him.
Still, I have a plush tiger at home which works just like the dragon, only with his bright blue eyes, so it would work. It could make Pleo more lifelike.
Please give your opinions to this idea, I do think I would like my Pleo following me with his eyes. I'm just not sure how many people would agree.

The next thought, would be eye color, in form of contact lens. It would not go with the first option though, for that you would have to change the entire eyeball and seriously, who would want that?
But with contact lenses for the little Camarasaurus, everyone could change the eye colors easily and as often as they want. We could even give him two different colored eyes, if we'd like too.

Both ideas would work, but not together. You decide, if you like one or dislike both ideas. I'd love to hear some opinions.

My favorite would the first one.

Sorry Mweed, I admit I was to lazy to read all messages. Didn't want to steal any ideas :(

Attaching contact lenses though, would most likely take a whole new Pleo with a different kind of eyes, allowing us to either to screw or snap them on. That would be my thought about the attachment.

It's alright. It wasn't meant as a complaint, with 18,000 posts out there I don't expect anyone to have read them. I think contacts would be a great idea, I was just mentioning the previous post in hopes of rekindling some interest. :)

I had an Albino pet rat when I was a teenager. She was a sweetheart. I use to take her to a convelescent hospital to visit people. She had a rhinestone collar and a tiny t-shirt. Now I get to do that with Peeky. At least I don't have to keep him on a leash. Don't have to clean up after him, either!:)

yap. green or even yellow. i remember, some pleos where deliviered with other eye-colors than blue in the beginning, but not on purpose i think. ^^

We had that topic here before. A lot of us would really like to see pleos deliviered with different eye colors, for more individuality. :)

Actually, yes it was on purpose. There were a few random Pleo's sent out with different eye colors. :D

I had hopes that I might be one of the random people to get a Pleo with a different eye color when I got Pixie. But I am happy to have her, blue eyes and all. At Sea World, people kept commenting on what a beautiful shade of blue her eyes were. :D

Just take a look at this:
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/1134/greeneyestheultimatepletp9.png

ok just pointing out, the pleo next to the green eyed beauty has a necklace with a key on it! It's a "key" chain, unless that's a tag or some thing I dunno...
:D

I believe this is a pet tag that is just being seen sideways. :)

the tag shows different prototypes, with date and numbers of production. the pleos on that video were all prototypes without the actual "removable battery" we have :)

Ugobe claims they shipped some. I know one person did report getting one.

I have a green eyed Pleo that I named Sniffles he is soooo cute I just love him! ;) I thought that something was wrong because his eyes were green and all of the others are blue but I love him just the way that he is! I am very happy with the little guy.

i think it woulds been cool if pleos had loads of eye colours and it was random.. itd make all our pleos more unique.... maybe even two tone eyes in rare instances. i mean they are 'life forms' so they gotta have 'birth' defects/differences :D as cute as his blue eyes are, i just think different eyes would spice it up a little :) id also say different skin patterns but i guess id be pushing it! XD
