View Full Version : Traveling with Pleo (can I curl his neck and tail?)

I want to travel with Pleo to an upcoming convention, but I am not sure which is the best way to have him inside a bag. The bag is like a computer bag, an aibo bag to be exact but the little guy is a tad on the long side. Is there a way I can curl his tail and neck so I can fit him in the bag? I just don't want to stress anything and end up braking it in the packing process.
Thank you

Hello,
I've been able to put my Pleo, Narco, in to a deep sleep by holding a hand on his back sensor for about 5 seconds (when he's relatively still). This should get your Pleo to curl up and sleep so you can turn it off in that position.
See my video here:

One CORRECTION for the video: You do NOT need to touch his back leg sensors, only the back sensor.
Hope that helps!

one thing though. there is only one touch sensor in that area not three...
thanks for the tip. i didn't know that you could do that. i guess i haven't played around with him enough yet.

Yep - that's why I corrected myself in the video description and in my "CORRECTION" in the post above ;)

If you plan on flying with a Pleo, I suggest you not attempt taking him through carryon, given TSA rules and their paranoia about toys as bomb carriers, the new mad rules about battery weights, etc etc.

Yeah, I agree. Put him in the suitcase for the cargo area. As much as I hate the idea of that, for fear off the suitcase being tossed and Pleo getting hurt, I'd make sure he was snug between a bunch of clothes to cushion him on his trip. Be sure to leave his leaf with him in case he gets hungry. ;)

Oh TSA doesn't care, they don't with all the electronics I have taken with me. As long as the battery is out it is never an issue :D. I just needed to know how to curl him up to fit him in a carry on ^.^

This is a very handy feature of Pleo! I wonder how many other undocumented things like this that there are?

I just took Sephy from New Jersey to Idaho. I repacked about 5 times trying to decide how to take her. Carry on, suitcase, carry on, stay home, suitcase. I didn't think there would be a problem with her in carry on but I decided not to take a chance they would take her. I made sure she was protected with close and some bubble wrap around her. I also put a shirt between her legs to prevent them from getting smashed down. She made the trip there great. I haven't had a chance to turn her on since we got home but I'm sure she's just fine. LEt me know how you do with the carry on.

I know remote controls cars (mainly the remote) aren't allowed as carry ons, since they could be used to set off a bomb. Pleo being as new as he is, many airports might throw him in the x-ray and see a whole bunch of stuff in that little toy, and begin to wonder. It doesn't take much for them to find reason to pull you off a flight.

I will keep you guys posted how the traveling goes with pleo :D. Since the aibo people have not had problems traveling with theirs, I don't seem a problem with pleo.
I just don't like to check stuff like so in my luggage. I don't like how much they grab things in my bags and might mishandle it and break it, so I will take my chances and carry it on :D. Plus ugh, they do steal stuff every once in a while and Pleo is kinda not easy to find so I will be extra careful.

Put Pleo to "sleep", and took him thru security on my carry-on back pack, Newark to Savannah and back. No problems at all thru security...and this was Newark, so security is usually rough. They much have seen Pleo on the Xray, no not even an eyebrow raised.
No way I would have trusted it in my checked luggage.
