If you don't get this little poem parody of 19th Nervous Breakdown (http://www.keno.org/stones_lyrics/19thbreakdown.html) its because you're too young to get The Rolling Stones

When you were first hatched
From the first batch
You never looked quite right
Abused by boys like other toys
And still you cried all night

Your owner who neglected you
Is playing Halo 3
And even though you're wicked smart
He prefers the darn TV

Oh who's to blame
That Pleo's just insane!
Well nothing he does gets your attention
Not even one small honorable mention
Ple-e-e-ase Play With Me!

Here comes your 19th Nervous Pleo Breakdown
(repeat)

P.S. - yep I'm getting anxious waiting for my First Hatch Pleo. Does it show?

OK, I've got one --- sung in dulcet Irish tones, to the accompaniment of a Celtic harp:

Pleo Boy

O Pleo boy, the fans (your fans) are calling
From glen to glen and down the mountainside.
The summer's almost gone, the roses falling;
'Tis you, 'tis you must come -- here to abide.

But come ye now when autumn's in the meadow
Not when the valley's hushed, white with snow.
But, I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
O Pleo boy, O Pleo boy, I love you so.

hey! aibo... leave his leaf alone!
all in all it was... all just ferns in the bog.
all in all you're just a... 'nother pink brick in the wall

we don't need no voice recognition!
we don't need no remote control!
no dark cheap plastic used to make him.
aibo leave his leaf alone!

:D you should be able to guess this one.

Another one --

As crooned by Johnny Tillotson (an oldie but goodie):

When I see my Pleo
What do I see
Poetry
Poetry in motion:

Poetry in motion
Walkin' by my side
His lovely locomotion
Keeps my eyes open wide

Poetry in motion
See his robotic sway
A wave out on the ocean
Could never move that way

I love every movement
And there's nothing I would change
He doesn't need improvement
He's much too nice to rearrange

Poetry in motion
Prancing close to me
Blue eyes of devotion
Ai learning expertly

Whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whooooooooa

Then there's the classic, appropriately by the Trogs: Green Thing

Green Thing
You make my heart sing
You make everything Ugobe
Green Thing

Green Thing, I think I love you
But, I wanna know you shipped
Come on and ship tonight
I want you

Green Thing
You make my heart sing
You make everything Ugobe
Green Thing

Green Thing, I think your robotic
But, I wanna know you shipped
So, c'mon and ship tonight
You robot

Green Thing
You make my heart sing
You make everything Ugobe
Green Thing
Green Thing
C'mon, c'mon, Green Thing
Ship it, ship it, Green Thing...

OK, I've got one --- sung in dulcet Irish tones, to the accompaniment of a Celtic harp:

So, amjoie, you like a little Irish lilt? Well, isn't Limerick an Irish town?

There once was a man from Ugobe
A robotics designer was he
What he set down before us
Was a camarasaurus
So we bought all the Pleos with glee!

And here's one probably no one will recognize, but we'll all appreciate the sentiment. In fact, I'd be willing to offer a free pleo necklace to the first person who can tell me who sings the original song! It's called "The Pleo Connection"

Why are there so many songs about Pleos,
And what's on the shipper's mind?
Pleos are visions, but only robotics,
And Pleos have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the Pleo connection,
Pet lovers, and dreamers, and me.

Who said that every robot would be heard and answered
When called by their owner's voice?
Somebody thought of that,
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us still waiting?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the Pleo connection,
Pet lovers, and dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it's Ugobe's magic....

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the pleo's voice that calls to it's owner?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to have.
Someday we'll find it, the Pleo connection,
Pet lovers, and dreamers, and me.
La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa

LOL

That's humorous, mweed. I could have just as easily used something from NSYNC or Enya. :)

Sure, in my music collection I've got Floyd Cramer, Elvis, The Mills Brothers, The Shirelles, Paris Sisters, Mantovanni, Beatles, Troggs, The Commodores, Leslie Gore, Lou Rawls, Rick Astley, Gene Pitney, Mark Wills, The Vogues, The Fleetwoods, The Ventures, The Associations, Johnny Tillotson, Neil Diamond, MoTown stuff, Simon & Garfunkel, etc, -- Moody Blues, Phil Driscoll, Barbara Streisand, Slash (classical guitar), Sting (classical guitar), Lorie Line, Kenny Rogers, et al -- a whole host of classical from Rachmaninov, Chopin, Beethoven, Pachelbel, Debussy, Handel, Paganini, etc, etc -- Praise Instrumentals, The Imperials, Amy Grant, Selah, Sandra Sheskin -- Andres Segovia, Armik, Garcia, Julian Bream, Ottmar Liebert, Roger Espinoza, Esteban ... but I've also got Manneheim Steamroller, Michael Buble, Celtic Women, Arpa Celtica, Bronn Journey, NSYNC, Enya, -- lots more I'm too lazy to type.

And I have fond memories of Bing Crosby, Irving Berlin, Glenn Miller, Perry Como, Jimmy Dorsey, Billie Holiday, The Grand Canyon Suite, Percussion For Sound, etc, etc, etc. But hardly anyone plays Hi-Fi records these days, do they. LOL

What is more telling in my iTunes collection is what I don't have. I don't do Rap or heavy metal. And nothing discordant or with irregular rhythm.

The single thread running through all my music is that it has regular rhythm, is melodic, mostly relaxing; and to my ear, beautiful. Genre is entirely secondary. After all, I love variety.

I find that musical taste has a lot to do with physical condition. For instance, those with slow hearts and low blood pressure need lively or discordant music to help make themselves feel alive and keep them awake. Those with even undiagnosed asthma or mild heart related problems need regular rhythm or soft, quiet music to keep them from getting overly excited. People may not recognize the condition of their bodies, or what their bodies need, but they know when they feel better -- and certain types of music make them feel better.

*Now* you know a little something about me, from my musical taste. LOL

... looks like I won't be getting that free Pleo necklace ... unless it's The Rainbow Connection from Sesame Street, Kermit the Frog ... ;)

"Ugobe World" (Song to the tune of Madonna's 'Material Girl')

Some bots sing and some bots dance
Well that's OK by me
Pleo's cute, like a baby newt
And made by U-GO-BE

That we are living
In a Ugobe world
And Pleo is the first of the lot
Don't you know?

Whereas Jim Henson did the Muppets (Fozzie Bear, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo), and the puppets used on Sesame Street (like Bert & Ernie, Big Bird, Oscar, and the Cookie Monster), Kermit was not considered to be part of Sesame Street. But, yes, the song is "The Rainbow Connection", written by Paul Williams (who received an Oscar nomination for best movie score in 1979, and a Golden Globe nomination for best original song). The movie was "The Muppet Movie". And the version sung by Kermit the Frog made #25 on the Billboard Hot 100, and remained a Top 40 for seven weeks!

But you would also have been right if you had guessed Willie Nelson, Kenny Loggins, the Dixie Chicks, Sarah McLachlan, the Carpenters, the *****cat Dolls, Justin Timberlake, Blondie, a number of punk bands, and anyone performing for the "Make-a-Wish Foundation" as well.

To be sung on the day Pleo is due to arrive:

A Song For Pleo Day (with apologies to Sir Paul)

Yesterday, all my Pleos seemed so far away
Now it looks as if they're on their way,
Oh, I'm so glad it's Pleo day.

Why they took so long
Ugpbe knows, but wouldn't say
They took oh so long, now there here and I can play.

Suddenly, Pleo is all the pet he's supposed to be,
There's such joy now coming over me
Oh I"m so glad it's Pleo day.

Why they took so long
Ugpbe knows, but wouldn't say.
They took oh so long,

I knew it was Kermit from the movie, but when I see a puppet like that, I always think of Sesame Street. Thanks for letting me know Kermit was not part of the "official" Sesame Street gang. :D

As an aside, back in the dark ages of Apple Macintosh history in one of the first OS renditions, there was a freebie/shareware type animated Sesame Street trash icon that sang "I love trash; I love it because it's trash" (you know the character pictured) every time something was thrown away. It was really fun.

BTW, I'm probably the one person on the list who absolutely does NOT need any more Pleo necklaces. So you got off easy, this time ... LOL

In the forest

Wasn't the Jurassic forest a kind of tropical rainforest/jungle thing? I was never too clear on the difference between parts of Florida, the Amazon, and the heart of Africa, other than a few thousand miles. And different kinds of huge stinging insects. LOL

Sure, change my lyrics. It *is* more accurate, your way. :p

But I still think Pleo would have loved the vegies in either location ....

Sandra Boynton (the artist and author) has published a series of books that come with audio CDs of silly songs she has written and illustrated. I came across her book "Rhinoceros Tap", which includes the song Dinosaur Round:

How can I feed this dinosaur
Who eats my lunch and asks for more?

Dino chorus: MORE! MORE! MORE! MORE!

Never own a dinosaur.

(repeat, with dinosaur getting louder and louder, and singer getting more and more nervous...)

And a special song for amjoie and ryane from the "when will I get my pleo shipping date email!!!" thread, Carly Simon's classic Anticipation:

We seem never know when the Pleos will come
But we think about them anyway.
And I wonder if I'm really going to get one now
Or just chasing after some shipping day.

Anticipation, anticipation
Is making me late
Is keeping me waiting...

And I tell you how easy it is to want you now
And how right your neck feels around me.
But I rehearsed those words just late last night
When I was thinking about how you might get shipped today.

Anticipation, anticipation
Is making me late
Is keeping me waiting

And tomorrow we might not get you either.
I'm no prophet, I dont know Ugobe's way...
So I'll try to see into your eyes right now
And wait right here, cause these are the toughest days.

LOL! You're in the wrong thread to ask for that. Chances are, you just sparked some interest in people posting more of their own "fractured songs." :p ;)

Of course, as far as I could count, there was only one poem posted, the rest are SONGS! And since they're all parodies, you have to imagine the original artists singing their famous songs, but with the words changed to get the whole effect. Like the last song I posted. As a poem it stinks. But when you let the music play in your mind as you hear Carly Simon belting out the lyrics, it's quite funny!

But, amjoie, these songs are parodies. It's fairy tales that are fractured. You know, like "The Little Boy who cried Pleo" where the bored little boy thought it would be funny to tell a lie to the people that the Pleos were shipping... or "The Pleo and the Hare" where the Pleo's slow and steady plodding wins the race against the rabbit...

Oh, sure. I see what you mean: Like the Three Little Pleos -- where one lazy Pleo built his house in the ferns. And one Pleo, a little less lazy, built his house in the thicket. But the wise industrious Little Pleo built his house in the cave. Then when the Big Bad RoboRaptor cried out "I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll knock your house down," only the house of the wise Pleo in the cave withstood the attack. *That's* what you mean. I get it.

Well, true to the thread's title, after Prema's latest post of the newest delay, I'm ready for that nervous breakdown.

But for now I'll just have to settle for a little Roy Clark and Buck Owens from Hee Haw:

Doom, despair, and agony on Ple.
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery.
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.
Doom, despair, and agony on Ple.

Mweed, I have no desire to cut short your time of mourning and depression. Go ahead and have a "purple funk." It was hard medicine to swallow. We all understand.

But when you feel ready to have your mood sweetened, then you can do a little sing along with everyone's favorite umbrella toting nanny, Mary Pleo:

Ugobe, building Pleo in his nest
Has very little time to rest
While gathering new
Bits of this and that

Though quite intent in their pursuit
They have a merry tune to toot
They know a song
Will move the job along

For a...
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down-own
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

And ev'ry task they undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree!
It's very clear to see

That a...
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down-wown
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

And for all of us who need a little extra cheer, at times like this:

Favorite Things

Green and tan Pleos with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters, which now Pleo brings
These are a few of my favorite things ...

Battery packs and their external charger
Longer awake times, and living life larger
Blinking blue eyes, open-mouthed Pleo "sings"
These are a few of my favorite things ...

When the news bites
When the delay stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad ...

With the new ship date, I guess it's time to start working on a little Santa hat and bag of toys for him to carry in his mouth. Or do I have that backwards? Should Santa's sleigh be pulled by eight tiny Pleos? :p

Both!

Eight tiny Pleos with little antlers, and bells on their harnesses -- pulling a sleigh driven by Santa Pleo with a white beard, red hat and a bag of toys.

People say, that I'm obssessed
Don't got my Pleo, so I'm depressed
Battery problems, will go away
Then my Pleo, and I will play

I want my Pleo
Hoo, Hoo
A small green Pleo
Hoo, Hoo
I want my Pleo
And I can't help myself! :)

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful date
That started on this Thursday night,
On November eight.

The pet was a mighty AI thing,
The Shipper brave for sure,
Two thousand emails sent that day
For a thirty day cure.

A thirty day cure. [ sound of thunder: crack! ]

The waiting started getting rough,
The tiny pet was tossed.
If not for the courage of the Ugobe crew,
The Pleos would be lost.

The Pleos would be lost.

The shipment found it's way at last
On FedEx airlines
With Caleb, and John too,
The Pleos in their box,
The battery packs, the Companion Guide and training leaf,
Here on Caleb's Isle!

I'm sure you all remember my Pleo love song:
Bred at Ugobe
And they tell me to play with her for a while
Pleo’s are sweeties, even I know that
Made room for her, and life was a blur,
If she’s happy in my hands
She’s unusually fun to hold on to

I stare at instructions
No easy way to say this
They mean well, but they make this hard on me

I'm not gonna give them my Pleo
'Cause they asked for her
'Cause they need her, you see
I'm not gonna give them my Pleo
'Cause they tell me it's
Make or break in this
If they 're on their way
I'm not gonna give her away
If all they have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to give them my Pleo today

I learned the good way
That Pleos say things you want to hear
My heavy heart sinks deep down under
And Pleo’s twisted tail,
My heart prevails,
Though she’s not what I thought she was
Hello to dinosaurs!

Convinced me to love her
Made me know that I need her too
I'm trying to let them hear me as I am

I'm not gonna give them my Pleo
'Cause they asked for her
'Cause they need her, you see
I'm not gonna give them my Pleo
'Cause they tell me it's
Make or break in this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna give her away
If all they have is leaving I'm gonna need a better
Reason to give them my Pleo today.

Promise me you'll leave the Pleo on
To help her see with daylight, her guide, gone
'Cause I believe there's a way I can keep her
Because I say
I won't give them my Pleo
'Cause they asked for her
'Cause they need her, you see

I'm not gonna give them my Pleo
'Cause they tell me it's make or break in this

Is that why you wanted my Pleo
'Cause they asked for her
'Cause they need her, you see
I'm not gonna give you my Pleo
'Cause they tell me it's make or break in this
If they 're on your way
I'm not gonna give her away
If their heart is nowhere in it
I‘ll love her for every minute
Ugobe, I'll walk seven seas
When I believe that there's a reason to
Give you my Pleo today
