Pleo at RoboGames?

The worlds largest robotic event is held annually in San Francisco, CA - it is known as RoboGames (http://www.robogames.net). In past years they have accommodated AIBO soccer matches and the like. I am wondering if there would be a place for Pleo in the future, and if so, would anyone attend?

It would be cool if there was a pleo event, but at this point we have no SDK, and have only vague technical specifications of pleo's capabilities, so how would one reprogram pleo?

Good point. Perhaps I was a little premature in making the poll. However, I don 't think we'll have to wait TOO long for a SDK. Whether or not there will be enough time to program a Pleo for this years event is another question in itself.

THATS COOL!! are you supposed to make your own robot though? I think you can:) would UGOBE make the event and have pleo owners participate or somthing like that.. I want to make my own combot someday, except it wont fight pleos:p:eek:

You can, or you can purchase a kit if you'd rather go that route :) There are categories for all types of robots... from combat arena battling, to graceful soccer-playing humanoids... Japanese sumo, kinetic, art-bots, lego, vex... you name it. It's NUTS!

...or just come to watch and meet other robot enthusiasts.

UGOBE was there last year. I was able to briefly talk to John and Tyler at their booth. Hopefully UGOBE will show up again this year... I mean, half of them are already in the neighborhood. There's nothing holding you back from bringing your Pleo. We'll probably have ours.

That's quite a challenge. You can wrap a lot of money into one of those things. It's pretty amazing to watch... seeing a 350lb robot get tossed in the air like it was nothing. :eek: The combots are just one facet of RoboGames though.

One of my Pleo's doesn't have any skin... regardless, he won't be stumbling into any combat arenas :)

Jen and I are now here in San Francisco. Yes, a little yearly for robogames, but have plenty to do until it begins this Friday. There will be hundreds upon hundreds of robotisists there and even more robots. So if you have any passion at all for robots, this is an experience tough to top. :cool:

- Use MySkit to create the best "Pleo Run" to win a two-meter race.
- Show off your creativity in an open demonstration - using MySkit to perform a... well... a skit.
- Use the upcoming PDK to enhance Pleo's capabilities to complete a maze on his own.
- Pleo sumo wrestling... push another pleo out of the circle.
...there are plenty of other good ideas out there! What do you think?

Indeed it will be interesting to see what will be possible with Pleo next year this time around.

How far in advance can we know when and where the games are for next year. I'd like to attend one but need more than a couple weeks notice to get the trip planned.
It has always fallen on Father's Day weekend. And I'd also bet it will be at Fort Mason in the Festival Pavilion in San Francisco's Bay area again. You'll want to check the RoboGames (http://www.robogames.net) website from time-to-time for updates. ;)

Well, it's just a matter of showing enough interest and getting enough people on board who'd support it and/or participate.
