VOICE/SPEECH RECOGNITION:

Pleo does NOT have voice recognition so he will not "learn" a name or respond to commands, such as learning tricks.

There are no plans for UGOBE to provide voice/speech recognition, although Pleo's "ears" (microphones) feed into 10-bit A/D converters in a 32-bit ARM7 so theoretically the possibility exists for such a capability in the future, given the right software program.

SOUND/VOLUME:

Pleo can use both PCM and ADPCM file formats, and the default sampling rate is 11K. More information on Pleo mods and sounds will be released later on PleoWorld.

At this time it is not planned that Pleo will have a volume control, however it is planned that you will be able to turn off his voice.

CAMERA & IR:

Pleos communicate through IR in much the same way that a TV remote control works, but unlike a TV remote Pleo's IR works in both directions. If two Pleos are nose-to-nose their IR sensors are aligned, and with the right software this would be a way for them to "communicate," but at the moment Pleo does not have this capability.

Pleo has a color camera to enable him to distinguish object and edges in certain conditions, but he will not be able to recognize people or faces.

uncompressed (PCM) sound data.

After some time charging or playing, Pleo’s belly will become warm to the touch –
as if he’s been doing some sunbathing on the sly.
