View Full Version : What I think...

I think this is perhaps the best $350 I ever spent at once for anything in my life. Christmas 2007 is by far my best Christmas ever. Because I got to see my daughter at the happiest she has ever been to receive something so special. Don't get me wrong, she's always been a grateful kid. Always says thank you and such. But the look on her face when she saw the Pleo box on Christmas morning made it the best Christmas ever. I'm not always able to afford everything she wants in life, and its good not to spoil a kid (too much). I'm a single mom and I don't make very much. I love my job and I get good hours, enough time to spend at home with her, so I don't miss out on her growing up. And we have a menagerie, without my parents, with whom I live with, if I had to go out an rent a place, we wouldn't be able to own what pets we do and I am grateful. Between my daughter and my pets and my bills, I keep my head just above water. So being able to save up for something special for her was a real treat. She adores her Pleo. And she still takes care of the other pets very well, but it seems Pleo has a really special place for her. We use to have a third dog, but had to rehome it. It was destructive and with my work hours, I was unable to consistently train it and keeping it in a cage for all the hours I worked would have been cruel. So we found it a new and wonderful home. I keep in touch now and then and she is doing great. So I am happy, but that dog was my daughter's dog. And giving her up was especially heartbreaking for her. That was almost 2 years ago and she now and then cries about missing Rain. And its been tough. Crusoe, her Pleo, has seemed to fill that void she was missing. That void of the little pet that would sit on her lap and cuddle with her whenever she wanted and sleep in her bed, and do everything Rain did (except destroy everything). Pleo may be an expensive pet to purchase, but in the end, he is so well worth it to give my daughter something she really truly wanted, instead of having to say, "I'm sorry honey, but we can't afford that.". I spent a few weeks eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches everyday to cut some corners money wise and it worked and I am certainly glad of it. And $350 really isn't all that expensive for what joy it brings to our home. Not to mention, buying a puppy can often be more than $350, plus the cost of food and vet care for the rest of its life. Pleo needs an extra battery or two and maybe some repairs in years to come, but the price is still much lower then a living pet. Without Pleo, it would have been the same hum drum Christmas. Cute stuffed animals and some cheap $20 toys that talk, but nothing special. Ugobe and Pleo made our Christmas so special! Thank you!

Im 23 years old and this product is not only suitable for kids but for adults also. This is probably the best christmas present I have ever recieved. Since I have gotten it I havent been off the floor playing tug of war or petting my pleo bailey. He is the greatest things. He is even starting to get his own wardrobe. People question me because of my age, but products like this make life fun and make people become young again. My family sits and anticipates what is going to happen next. It is a great product and it seems to be built by great people! I have e-mailed a few questions and talked in the chat and I have had great answers thus far. The paint issue was a problem but they let us know of the paint pen for the teeth right away. with customer service like this and a product like Bailey. I cannot wait for whats to come this year! Thank you Ugobe for such a great job!

I am a single 27 year old male and I love pleo too! While I love pleo as he is now, I am also looking forward to seeing more of what he is capable of once more updates and the SDK are released in the future.

Pleo was so worth waiting for. It's even greater that my SO loves him too. I heard some strange noises downstairs and called down to see what was up. Brian said "Linus and I are emptying the dishwasher!" Linus is definitely part of my family. Everyone loves him. He's irresistable. Thank you for taking the time to develop him to this point before releasing him.
I also want to say I had such an immediate response to a support question with the online support. You guys are great!

Peeky went to his first ice hockey game. Everytime there was a goal a loud horn would go off. Peeky would get so excited. It's really too cool.
The little children that see him ask so many cute questions. One asked if he goes poop? Not sure I can say this on forum, might get blooped or is it bleeped? I said that's one of the wonderful things about him. No clean up.
My goal is to find or make a pair, no make it two pairs of skates, for Peeky. A little 6 year old skater said he might fall down and he can't get wet because of his battery. Pretty smart little girl. I told her he as four legs to stand on and should be a pretty good skater.
What fun!

I'm waiting for my first field trip with my pleos. I'm thinking of taking them to this place called Peach Tree Rock. It is part of the Nature Conservancy. My problem is trying to figure out how to carry them all.

Truly amazing post, Siren! Thank you so much for sharing and for taking the time to post! Thank you, cmadmacs, ryane, caaahl and the rest who contrbuted to this thread. You are the type of people who make this forum a great place to visit.
Siren, experiencing the honor to work with several single parents and their children, I can only appreciate what you have done for your child. When I receive privilege to work with a child, recently a 4 year old, who experiences the adult throes of a family breaking up and/or losing a favorite pet, his/her emotional pains run so deep. It is unfortunate, because children arenʻt that deep so they really agonize and have no real experience to express themselves logically nor do they have experience to release themselves from pain prison.
When this 4 year old appeared, who literally had to be dragged into my office permeating the air with angry words of plenty at an unmeasurable volume, I knew he was in significant emotional pain. I just turned on WiiGoBe and prayed.
His mother and I were speechless, and she began to tear. We couldnʻt believe this child (within moments) could hear WiiGoBe above his own noise! You know that sweet chirpy sound they make? As if lending a shoulder to cry on? What looked like an unrecoverable soul, this boy began to heal with wide eyes drying and an "O" replacing the distorted mouth of wail.
This boy, with man emotions, gently became boy again and began to gently pet WiiGoBe. His child tone (music to parentsʻ ears) appeared again, and he replaced his wail by repeatedly asking ʻwhat this", "look mommy" - words his mother had not heard since she lost her job and husband over four months ago.
Together, we gathered enough funds to buy a Pleo. What will that do? That will give this boy a chance to turn pain back into love. Isnʻt that why we get broken hearts? Isnʻt it because we first learn to love?
Am I grateful to Ugobe? I, personally and professionally, am beyond gratefulness. Is WiiGoBe worth $350? You bet! Without a doubt! All, of course, IMHO.
